Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: In-person Experience: 3 years (5e DM) + 1 year (5e Player) Location: I would be comfortable with any game in the Irvine/Tustin/Santa Ana/Newport/Costa Mesa/etc. areas (don't want to drive into LA or down to SD, sorry!). Availability: I can make myself available for pretty much any length of game on any evening throughout the week. I am looking for a game ideally once a week for a few hours. My schedule is flexible, and I can get off work whenever I want, so start/end times don't matter much to me but I would prefer an evening game. Preferred role: Player Game style: I am comfortable with a lot of different playstyles and game styles. My personal preference is something that is thematically darker or grittier. I prefer roleplay-heavy games and am more than happy to contribute to the game by making sure my character is deep, detailed, well-defined, and narratively interesting. I don't have a preference between Homebrew or Official content, but am more interested in telling a story together and sharing an adventure where actions have real and lasting consequences. I favor realism over idealism and morally-grey characters over those that tend to be more black & white. I like to think out-of-the-box and will always try to find interesting ways to explore scenarios that I think may not have been tried before. All of that said, I would be happy with most games short of a hack-and-slash/dungeon crawler archetype. I like combat--I love it, actually--but there usually isn't a realistic reason to fight 4 times in one day. Something more focused on story, quests, and adventure is more up my alley.
I love to make characters and to build their stories and so I would happy to assist the DM by providing interesting characters or character templates that can be used for the campaign. I have loads of miniatures, most of them unpainted, and would be happy to lend them to the game. I have a 3D printer that I have used to make a few set pieces and minis over the years, which is also an option if the DM thinks it could be useful.
I am starting an in person game 2/22 on a Tuesday or Saturday night. It is at my home in Artesia (605&91) I have 3 players it's my homebrew which tends towards hero stories. Let me know if you're intrested.
Did you end up finding a group? I am looking for a group as well. I am a relatively new DM (6 months or so) and have yet to had the chance to be a player.
I am familiar with the Artesia area as I am from the area. Are you in need (or want) of players? I am a new DM (6 months experience) but have not had the change to become a player yet.
