Hello all and well met, I am currently looking to join a new adventure to fill my Thursday nights. Also open to the same times on a Saturday or Sunday games as well. Would love to find a game that last 4 hours or more if possible. I do like to play when we in session so I prefer longer games but will not turn down a shorter game if I like what I see! Also, no disrespect but not interested in any paid games! Things that I like in a game?
Good amounts of RP. I have played in both dungen crawl games and the mid to high RP games and I have grow to like more of a high RP centered game. Now, do not get me wrong, I do like some combat but when who sessions are nothing but combat then it is boring to me. But yes, I do know that there will be sessions like this but every week makes for a not so fun time to me.
You choices matter and the PC's mean something. To me, when your players are playing among themselves and interacting with the world, that is the most fun. Players who have good backstories that mean something, players who actually make their PC's feel alive instead of a pile of dice and a piece of paper. This is what is fun to me. Going from point A to point B and simply talking to NPC's can be boring in my eyes. Having the players interact with the world and themselves is key to me in having a good time.
I always prefer a good homebrew but a well thought out book adventure can be just as much fun as well. Sure you can run a adventure from a book and read word for word but adding on top of what is written can extend the fun a lot. I have played in a couple book adventures and th sheer amount of added content was honestly some of the most fun I have ever had.
Honestly, what I look for in an adventure is about 80/20 RP to combat. I rather like sessions that go with all RP for the whole session as long as people are having fun. Heck, I have had sessions got 2 or 3 in a row with nothing but good solid RP with much character building. To me, fleshing out your character is just as important as leveling up. You get a feel for that certain character and it feels more "alive" in your hands. One of my current characters is a small extension of myself in how I act with them and respond to others. And he has built strong ingame friendships with other characters along the way.
But enough about what I am looking for, lets talk about me as a player. I started 2E way back in the mid 90's and played roughly 5 years with 3.5 years of that with one single character. I decided to give 5E a shot back in early August and have been playing a lot of games since. I just want to find myself joining a long adventure that goes for as long as possible. I find those the most fun to be honest. I do write great backstories for those DM's who like to include them in their adventures and can voice act my characters as needed. I have a few character concepts in my head as a few that I currently use now. Willing to bend to fit a role if needed...Yes, I do not mind playing a cleric if one is needed. If you spent the time to read all my rambling then thanks! If you are interested in speaking to me about joining, please PM me here. I of course have discord and will give it as needed. Happy Gaming!
I've been DMing for about 6 years now. I took a break to be a player in my regular game. But our new DM is doing so well I won't be back behind the screen anytime soon! I'm thinking about starting a Thursday night group. I'd love to play in Eberron. I love the magic steampunk, political intrigue, noir, and halfling riding dinosaurs.
