Easthallow is a 5e based Dark Fantasy server looking for new players! It is set in a homemade setting drawing influence from Ravenloft and other horror based settings. We are a persistent world, which means the state of the setting can change due to player influence, and are looking for more awesome people to adventure with and shape the world. We are primarily English speaking, 18+ community running on EST but welcome players from all regions and times. We have a team of Dungeon Masters that can run things at various times throughout the day and week.
Roleplay is always open and available, while we try to run multiple quests/one shots throughout the week. We currently use roll20 and voice chat through discord for some events. However, play by post is available for day-to-day interactions well as other events. We encourage our players to be active and love to work with them to craft fun backstories, story hooks, and personalized quests. The team believes story crafting is the key to fun.
The small team of Dungeon Masters have been DMing through the various editions and have had experience working with large group settings such as this. It's our goal to create as close to a living world as possible, with the help of the players.
If you don't have a ton of time but still curious to check it out? Not a problem! There is no hourly requirement for players to participate. Also, if you want to create a character and just roleplay in the world adding to the story, that is welcome.

Upon joining you will need to read and react to the rules. Once accepted, you will go through character creation, before the full server is open to you. Until your character is reviewed by the Dungeon Master team, you will only see the most basic channels in the server.

Previous D&D Experience: Played a ton of 5e from 2017-2021, kind took a break this past year. I've just been playing in my monthly in person game with friends when we can make it.
Previous Play By Post Experience: None, I've only played in person or through Roll20 + Discord online. Even using D&D Beyond is a little new to me since my friend started using it in our in person game.
Are you familiar with/have you used Discord ever?: Yes, my friends and I still use it so have been using it for 5ish years now.
Are you familiar with/have you used Roll20?: Yes, it has been a little bit, but I don't think I've forgotten too much.

Are you comfortable with using play-by-post style roleplay as your character?: Oh! For roleplay stuff yup, I've done that before. I thought you meant a whole quest through play-by-post. I have many stories/posts that have been lost to old channels I played in.
Character Idea (Race or class) you are excited to play: I think Bard, Wizard, and Druid are my favorite for classes, but I wouldn't mind trying out something different. I think I tend towards Half-elf, Tiefling, Halfling, or changeling for race, but I'm more curious about what already exists and if there are any world lore implications for certain races before I go picking one.

Are you comfortable with using play-by-post style roleplay as your character? I have so many it isn't even funny. There is Valarian, a Dhampir Blood Hunter who seeks to bring back the woman he loved who was killed by Vampire Hunters. (He loved the Vampire he served and she was in the process of turning him when she died, hence why he is a Dhampir). There is also Sylren, a Harengon Monk/Bard who is the most laid-back person you will ever meet until he gets serious or angry in-which case he is a cold, heartless psychopath. Both of them seem a lot of fun to me.

I have several ideas. These range from a socially awkward eldritch fey man, a charismatic, playful undead who loves to sing and goof around, a withdrawn, mute alchemist who's terrified of her alchemy set (paired with a talkative, eccentric raven), a curious, but quiet witherbloom druid, and more. I'm mainly fixated on my eldritch man at the moment, though.

The couple sessions I've done I've stuck to Wizard style classes (Magus in pathfinder, school of necromancy). Would love to try a Warlock, Ranger, or a Druid. I have ideas for all three and more. As far as race, a tiefling or half-elf would probably be where I'd lean. But always open to try something different than those.
