“They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time.”-Banksy
“Nothing ever truly dies, The Universe wastes nothing. It is simply transformed.”- Keanu Reeves
Setting: You live in the Last House, the plane of the Forgotten. It has taken the shape of a house of immense size. Corridors kilometers long, rooms upon rooms of ever-changing design, Halls with their own weather patterns, and cellars full of enough water to sink every city ever built beneath their waves. It’s a really big house.
Everything that has ever been forgotten finds its way to the House, items of incredible power, magics of esoteric strangeness, and beasts of terrible form. It is a plane of wonders that can be found nowhere else in the cosmos where an adventurer may find that one thing which the rest of the world has denied them.
You may have found yourself here by several means. The simplest and the most common is to be forgotten, not just by one person but by every living thing you’ve ever met. On this day you turned a corner, opened a door, or simply closed your eyes and found yourself now a resident of The House.
You may also have chosen to come here. The House holds riches beyond measure for those who dare, and there are spells and a few thin places in the world that might allow entry to the bold or mad. But you were warned, all those who enter the House are forgotten by those who knew them in the wider world, and of those who have returned from a journey there none can recall the exact mechanism of their escape.
Lastly you may have met a man you cannot recall, a beggar you threw a coin to that no one else seemed to see, a child playing alone at recess, an old woman sitting in the park trying to feed birds that would not come. This one chance interaction drew you in, and now you are within The House, and know not how you came to be there.
Mechanics: This is a 5e game that uses roll20 as a VTT and discord for voice/chat. While we will be using voice I am willing to accommodate someone if they have extenuating circumstances. Because of the nature of the setting all official DnD material is permissible, you can be any race/class that has been officially released from any world. I allow homebrew on a case by case basis. Talk to me first.
Rules for Players: I have three rules for my players that if you break will be grounds for getting kicked:
Be on time
- If someone is consistently late or skips without telling me they can’t make it beforehand then they’re out. If you’re applying to be in this game I trust that you have already figured out if you have enough time in your schedule to play a game.
2. Be prepared
- It is your job to be ready to play and not waste other people’s time. If your character sheet isn’t ready to go or you have to take 10 minutes to look up your character’s abilities in the rulebook every turn then please don’t apply. Newbies are welcome to play in my games but there’s a difference between newbies and folks who just won’t put the effort in to learn the game.
3. Be respectful
- The most important rule. We all come to this game for different reasons. Some people love to power game, some love the RP, some people just love getting weird with it. Whatever reason you play, respect that others may have different backgrounds and experiences than you and be willing to meet them halfway. Remember that we’re all here to have fun and tell a story together.
Oh and these rules go for me as well. If you ever feel disrespected or unheard by me during a game please let me know and I hope we can talk it over and come to a good place. I’m no Matt Mercer and will almost certainly disappoint you if we play together long enough. The trick is resolving those conflicts when they come up.
My background: I’m a 32M dm who’s been DMing consistently since I was 17. I would describe my games as 33% combat, 33% RP, 33% puzzles and 1% bullet hell shooter. PC death is a definite possibility in my games but not a certainty.
Scheduling: I live in PST so games will be set around that time zone in the evenings. I plan on hosting 3 hour sessions once a week with a 10 minute break in the middle. What day we play on depends on what day yall select in your applications.
