Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Please at least have a basic understanding of the game and its mechanics. Location/Timezone: DM is EST. Players must be able to align schedules with this. Schedule: Once every other Saturday, later in the evening (time will be decided during Session 0) Roles sought: Players Game style: The game I want to run is more RP and player-driven story. There will be very light and infrequent combat, though certain combat encounters can and will have lasting impacts on the game.
Howdy! I am Fussan, a DM of roughly six years now (I think), and I'm looking to put together a group of people that I can run at least one game with. I have a few people already interested, so I need the other half of a group. What I am looking for is:
Players that already have a grasp on the game, its mechanics, and what most people expect of each other in a game.
Players that are okay with an online only game that uses a combination of this site, and Roll20.
Players that are able to match their schedules to a late night Saturday game in the EST timezone, twice a month.
Players that are fine with entirely homebrew (usually very weird or horrifying (or both!)) games, monsters, etc.
Players that are okay with all types of games, even if some are mostly combat, or don't have combat at all.
Now, if you've made it past all that exposition and jargon, you're probably more interested in this than the ones that left. I'll tell you more about my DM style, and the type of game that I have in mind for this particular outing. I prefer open, sandbox style games, and will let my players have as much freedom as they want. I make a world, fill it with stuff, know where everything and everyone important is, and let them run wild. Of course, there's always a "main story", but my players usually go about doing it in their own ways. My combat is usually either easy and fun, medium and slightly annoying (because suffering amuses me), or deadly (only on important fights that matter). I use half and half homebrew monsters and official, and most official ones I've altered slightly to fit what I want them to do.
The game I want to run is this: you will all be Human children (I don't care what subrace of Human, you just have to be Human to start out with), and you will all be friends in a medieval style village. Strange things are happening, and weird rumors are spreading amongst the youths that the grown ups are ignoring. But you know better, because you're you. You and your merry band of children (ages six to fourteen) will go on various adventures trying to solve various mysteries that you've heard of through your ever faithful contact and supplier of good: William. Nobody likes William. Don't be a William. But, this is the beginning, and to avoid spoilers for when things get real, I'll only say you'll start at level three, and by level eight you should get to broaden your horizons, so to speak.
If you die after the first half, or you just really don't like your character, you can change to be something else that isn't Human. Mostly because there aren't any Humans outside the village.
I host this over voice on a personal Discord server that I will give to those I decide will be the best fit. But before that, I will conduct short interviews on those interested to see if we think you'll mesh well enough. Include your Discord user name, experience you have with the game, and character CONCEPTS, not finished characters you'd be interested in playing. And know that before we get into this game, I will run a shorter, test game to let everyone get to know each other, and to allow me to learn about how you all play.
I've played for several years through multiple long term campaigns. I enjoy Role playing and doing puzzles to get through dungeons and other terrains.
Character Concept : A trickster jester. Does street performances with his trusty hand puppet to make ends meet. Always goes for the laugh and strays away from the serious conversations.
Hello! My name is Ellis, and I'm very interested in the game you're pitching. I have been a part of several one shots and one campaign in the past, and I do own almost all of the 3 and 5E physical books, but I wuld not consider myself experienced due to the considerable amount of time between sessions, and the lack of variety in DMs. That said, it would be remiss of me not to mention over 18 years of Play by Post and MUD rp experience that I believe would translate fairly into a heavy rp session such as this. I do have experience using Roll 20 as well.
off the cuff character concepts!
Penelope "Pocket" <surname TBD v-v> is an industrious young girl of eight, and apprentice to her dad, the local butcher. She carries with her on her day to day, a charismatic demeanor and an earnest interest in the world around her. Something, she has been told many times, that is very very dangerous in a world like this, but that in the safety of her village, she uses to coax business into her father's shop. Depending on the makeup of the rest of the party, she can be either a Barbarian, drawing strength and inspiration from her foreboding father, wielding an axe much the same as one might a meat cleaver, a rogue, inspired by her father's lack of bartering ability, or a (loose definition) Ranger , having aided in the provisioning of small game such as rabbits, squirrels, and waterfowl for the shop.
Roland /something's/berry. An assumed orphan found at the prior's doorstep one evening five years ago. 11 now, he's spent the last 6 years under tutelage of the church, practicing minor medicine, and has experienced very little outside the comforts of the temple. He is needless to say, fairly naive of the dangers of the world, but wisely cautious what he does and does not say to strangers. Oftentimes in his dreams, he hears a whisper of someone or something greater than he, but he can't yet reach it. Ideally he would take up a support role, most suitably a cleric (branching into knowledge? Undecided/considered.) or a druid for reasons I've yet to consider.
I'm super interested in this concept and would love to join your campaign. Having DM'ed purely homebrew before, I tend to be drawn more towards homebrew campaigns, because I love people's creativity, and when DM's are passionate about the material, it makes the storytelling that much better.
A little about me in relation to this is: I really got into the D&D wormhole back in 2020 (thank you COVID!), and I've DM'ed multiple campaigns throughout the last 2 years. Can't say I'm super "experienced" because while I did run campaigns, they started to become less frequent as life opened back up, and jobs changed. My Discord is: DrunkJamesBond#3330
My character concept is as follows:
Vog Boesson (pronounced "Voej Bissen") - the youngest child (all of 12 years old) born into a wealthy family, he noticed at an early age that he was different than everyone else - including his family. Whereas his family "tolerated" animals, young Voj was not only able to understand their feelings, but actually communicate with them. Having understood this at an early age, young Voj has always been socially awkward around other people - he always finds solace, comfort, and calmness in the presence of animals.
I hope to hear from you!
