[Update: Applications are now closed. We received so many excellent responses! We had to pass on some very promising players as we tried to make all the pieces fit, so if you're thinking of running a similar game at a similar time, you should know there's plenty of demand for it. I'll send you a copy of our questionnaire and everything.]
A DM and two players (including me) are looking for 3 or 4 more thoughtfully engaged players for an epic adventure set in Critical Role's world of Exandria.
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Varies Location/Timezone: Eastern to Pacific Schedule: Wednesdays at 8:00pm Eastern / 5:00pm Pacific Roles sought: 3 or 4 more players Game style: Balanced: roleplay, combat, exploration
About how this table is run:
To make sure everyone's having fun, the DM aims to make sure everyone is included, and abides by the Rule of Cool. So be creative; that bold idea might just be crazy enough to work!
Roleplay will be encouraged, not forced; we'll create space for you to lean into your character and hope you'll do so. We'll all develop backstories that establish how the party members know each other. We can figure some of this out in Session Zero, and the DM has prepared a nifty document to walk us through it, but expect to put some thought into it.
We'll all fill out an RPG Consent Checklist and be respectful of each other's lines and veils.
If you watch Critical Role, you'll notice some familiar rules about resurrections, drinking potions, and rolling HP when we level. You'll also notice the DM does not have Matthew Mercer's penchant for voice acting.
The software: We'll be using Foundry VTT, Discord, and D&D Beyond.
About the adventures: We're starting out in the Biting North of Wildemount with the adventure "Frozen Sick" and then makin' our way down to Xhorhas to launch into Call of the Netherdeep. (We mention this only in case you've heard of these adventures before or played them. Don't read ahead and spoil things.) Some brief introductions:
Something is killing people in Palebank Village, and if the characters don’t stop it, they might be next. “Frozen Sick” is an adventure that takes characters from 1st to 3rd level and introduces them to the continent’s Biting North region—the bleak arctic realms of the Greying Wildlands and Eiselcross.
Call of the Netherdeep is a grander adventure that embroils the party in the legacy of the Calamity, a war amongst the gods—and their mortal armies and empowered champions—that changed the face of Exandria several centuries ago.
About the current players: The two current party members are longtime friends in our 30s, now living on opposite ends of the US, who realized we both watch Critical Role and started playing 5e online as a way to regularly hang out. We plan to play a dwarven Divine Soul sorcerer and a human Life cleric.
