Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online (fantasy grounds, i have full licence which means you play for free; google meet, again i have licence; whatsapp) Experience: a few years Location/Timezone: EST Schedule: Sundays 8:30pm to 11-11:30pm Roles sought: Player (3-4) Game style: Casual, no between-player-role-play is necessary, but your PC having a background and personality, and playing that in the campaign adds flavour to the story; while usually there is at least one combat every session, it is not unusual for there to be sessions without any combat as you try to advance the story through NPC interaction, or the "odd time" players spend 20-60 minutes talking to each other OOC trying to figure out WTF is going on and what their next move should be. Anyway, the point is, having a PC personality that affects how you interact with the living world matters.
Note that is not an open world; there is a storyline, and if you decide to wander off to buy ice cream in the town over, then i won't have prepared content, and that PC/group has effectively exited the story. But, there are many ways to solve each challenge, and, as a living world, who you make friends with, or piss off, can affect who helps, or hinders, you in subsequent chapters of the story (i had one group piss off a faction, who then pursued/suspected them as criminals, while another group approached that same initial encounter differently and gained allies, and resources towards solving the objective at hand). This is ultimately a story about one city, and while starting at level 1 you'll be too insignificant to influence it much, as you progress, who you've allied/pissed off (if either) will flavour your options as the crises affecting the city continue to pile up and evolve.
Some final notes, there are 14-16 modules (i.e. distinct adventures) in the campaign, some ranging from 10 pages long, to 30 pages, to 60 page modules, and the final three each over 100 pages long. I've been running this for two groups. One group has made it to module 7 and that has taken them 9 months (of mostly 10 page adventures and one 30 page, and just getting into their first 60 page adventure). So I speculate the total campaign is ~2 years, maybe longer. There's so much content, i'm still programming fantasy grounds trying to stay ahead of the first group. The other group disintegrated at the end of module 4 due to player conflicts that became unmanageable. I would like rebuild that group; there is one existing player who is mature enough to replay through the first 4 modules based on what his (new) character knows (not what the player knows), or we can pick up where that group left off with new characters (just hit lvl 4) and explain what's happened. I'm looking for 3-4 additional players to rebuild the group.
I would love to talk and see if i would be a good fit for this campaign. I have been in a couple campaigns, 1 started lvl 1 currently lvl 5 the other lvl 3 we got to lvl 11 but unfortunatley it dissolved due to the DM's work schedule changing but that's life.
I'm 32 and have been playing for a couple years but have been interested for awhile.
Discord is duckplant#6027 hit me up if I could possibly join.
I've been looking for a Sunday game for a bit now, and this one does look like it'd be right up my alley. I've got quite a few years of experience playing D&D on and off, from AD&D to 3.5, 4th, Pathfinder, and now 5E. I've done live games, Roll20, Discord, and play by post on forums, so adjusting to new places to play should be easy enough. I've also been a DM for quite of bit of my time playing, so it would be great to get to stick to being a player.
I've done a couple long form games, with the longest having lasted about two years, but those ended a while ago and I'm looking for something to fill that hole. I've been lurking around the forums here for a little bit now, watching and waiting for that elusive Sunday scheduled game, so I'm excited at the prospect of possibly getting to join.
Hit me up on here or on Discord at DocShaggy#8176, I'd love to hear a bit more about the game and setting.
I am definitely interested in joining your campaign. I am 20 years old and have about 2 years of dnd experience as both a player and a dm. I have a lot of character ideas currently unused and I am no stranger to long-term campaigns over the internet.
As most of my campaigns suddenly stopped a few weeks ago I have been looking for good campaigns to join and this sounds good to me. I am down with whatever route we chose as long as I'm there.
My discord is Hawkking_44#2158 and I'd love to hear more!
This sounds really interesting! I am 16, turning on 17, years old, with about 3-4 years of experience, playing and dming. I haven't done too many long term campaigns, but I think I would be totally down for the long haul.
My discord is Bobert#4125
I hope to hear back from you!
