BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER! THIS IS A SPONSORED EVENT FROM A PRIVATE SPONSOR
I (DM) am paying you, you're not paying me. I don't want your money. I just want to cast a level 5 Bless on 6 PC's and pay them to come play D&D on a live-streamed webcam based D&D Homebrew Campaign. Starting characters at level 3, any class and any race. If you have content to share, that would be appreciated.
How is the DM paying you?
I figured if you have to expose your face to the world, you might as well get paid for it. Each player that commits to this campaign and makes it passed the first 3 sessions to adapt to gameplay and party dynamics; will then receive $15/session + 1/7th of Twitch/Youtube Revenue via zelle or cashapp. For each advancement in level, the player will earn an additional $5/session/per level. Depending on views, subs and a growing audience, the PC's have a potential to take home $100+ each session at max level (20), just to play online.
Why would the DM pay me to play?
The DM is a Cleric/Paladin in nature, and the DM likes to bless players and make new friends and form new alliances with other players around the world. But, at the DM's core, He just wants to bless people with good times and a few dollars in your pocket. The DM also has a suspiciously high Charisma and an abysmally low intelligence, like all paladins.
What does the DM expect from me as a player? I want you to have fun. I want you to walk away from each session feeling better about yourself, with a few dollars in your pocket. But, that means I need a few things from you. I need your respect, I need your understanding and I need your consideration, not just for me but for other players as well as the potential audience. Being that there is a high potential for young eyes and ears to witness our Stream/Video, that means profanity is PG-13. You have to be able to control your tongue, when it comes to streaming. Platforms like Twitch and YouTube are very stern when it comes to profanity and who can view it. That also includes sexually explicitly themes. In addition, I as the DM want to maintain a level of immersion in my streams. So, as long as the session is live, the players are "in Character" unless otherwise designated as "out of character." This may seem obnoxious, but when it comes to theater and an audience, its important to specify those things.
What will be expected from me as a Character/Performer? Full Immersion is full Immersion. I don't want to see players showing up for the stream in T shirts and Halter Tops. I want to see Wizards in Robes, Rangers with a quiver on the back, or any other number of wardrobe options that apply to the character you are playing. If you are limited on funds and can't afford to buy props to wear, then you can reach out to me and I'll try to help you find something that you can use during the performance. Makeup is definitely a plus, but is not required. I once had a paladin show up in full plate-mail, but he had trouble operating the mouse. There's that abysmally low intelligence I was talking about.
Each of the players that are being considered for these slots will be expected to demonstrate that they can Roleplay their character, with a complete character development, accent, inflection, and demeanor. Make the DM believe that you are your character, go the extra mile to put flare into your performance. The audience is just as important as the player's fun. Im not going to pay my players to sit there staring into the ceiling. I need my players to be engaged, actively in front of their camera. If you have a Green Screen setup, you could go the extra mile to do a Medieval backdrop, or something period specific. I am not the slightest bit interested in your outward charisma or attractiveness. I care about how you play your character, how you treat the other players and how you handle the situations I intend to throw at you.
All players must be 18 + for Streaming Purposes/ Children's protection All players need to have a clear and functional Microphone All players need to have a clear or high definition webcam 30 FPS or better All players need to have a decent bandwidth connection with minimal interruptions All players need to have a green screen or period specific background (DM approved) All Players need Roll20 and DNDBeyond character sheets All Players will note that I have 2 Moderators watching for compliance at all times
All players must be on time which is 15 minutes ahead of going live each session All players must first complete 3 sessions of story to generate party chemistry/familiarity All players must be prepped and ready to play/RP when their turn is up All players must give DM your zelle or cashapp info before the start of each session for payment All players must not answer audience questions directly in chat, one of the mods will answer All players must use the D&D Beyond Rolling System to insure accurate count/stats All players are prohibited from any form of cheating / if caught, immediate dismissal All players will agree to not Meta-game All players are freed from the burden of needing materials for spellcasting, Glyph of Warding is the only exception. All players are permitted to do anything they so choose within the confines of the game and within the rules of 5e. This an open world with an underlying story. I don't believe in railroading out in the open, but I do believe that I can get my story told, without your freedom being impeded or without you even realize you're being corralled into a direction. Its all about the Immersion and my joy and happiness is knowing that I can make my players truly believe that they are present in the story that is unfolding around them.
I truly believe that if a person will do good to others, that good will come back to them. So, I hope that the people that apply for this campaign are the type of people that want to spread good in the world. Even if you play an evil character, which is permitted, I expect you to be good to each other. At the very least, we're all here to play a game and have fun and if its not good, then there really isn't any point. I need to insure that you actually read it all the way through, I need you to include the last 2 digits of your birth year in your application, for age compliance and to see if this entire thing was read.
GAME SETTING
Everyone starts at level 3. Milestone XP, point buy. Critical role, rick and morty content selected, no encumbrance. Any Race/Class allowed. If you have content to share, that would be most helpful and players who share content will receive a bonus to pay.
Game Time: Session 0 Friday at 6PM-9PM Pacific
TRUE HOMEBREW
Taking Place on the Sword Coast in a small town called Daggerford along the Sword Coast. Everyone will begin their adventure inside the Lady Luck Tavern. What you do from there, is entirely up to you. Each PC is scattered throughout the tavern. How this adventure begins is entirely up to each of you. One thing each player must note is that any form of magic, enchantment or otherwise is extremely forbidden and can result in death if used in any of the Main cities along the Sword Coast. In smaller towns, its more feared and frowned upon than illegal. So choose actions wisely. None of you know eachother from anyone else. But, you've all seen eachother around at one time or another. That is where we'll start.
Final Note: At the end of the day, I want to be part of a group that not only brings other players to play D&D themselves, but also to hopefully dispel the stigma surrounding D&D and why so many groups of people categorize it as wicked or evil. Its just theater, its roleplaying and its place yourself outside of yourself to fit a role. If each player is there to add their own creativity and imagination to the story, if each player can develop a rapport with one another, if each player can go home with a few extra dollars in their pocket. Then, Im happy as a DM and I honestly don't care if I lose money or if the stream thing doesnt work out. Its a good thing to share with others and one thing that we all love and come together to enjoy, is sharing stories. And just another disclaimer, all players who do apply must first complete 3 sessions of game play before they can be paid for sessions. If you have any questions, please send them directly to me.
Do you agree to all requirements aforementioned? Do you agree to all the stipulations and rules therein? If you are truly interested in this campaign, then please express your interest in private message and then send me a link to your character and a brief backstory, also give me a little information on you as a player. Your experience in D&D, what is your favorite thing about D&D and what is the least favorite thing about D&D? What are you hoping to gain from this, other than a few dollars?
I look forward to building a story with everyone and I look forward to seeing people in the audience enjoying the show. Above all else though, I look forward to seeing my group happy when they see that their commitment is literally paying off, in their bank accounts.
I take it you've streamed before? If so will you post the Twitch link in here so people can see what happened in previous episodes from other games you've DM'd? You have a really good idea here and I hope it works for you and your players.
this intrigues me, i have 0 knowledge of the module/content so i think genuine reactions could/would add to the experience a bit (Ps i live the RnM series and the potential applications to a DnD based world).
im not real good with on the fly type introductions sadly, imma dorf regularly, not a scholar ;3, but if you'd like to reach out n chat, you can get at me on discord VTGanja420#1709
im EST and usually a nightowl, so dont be wary about time :)
not shy about it, im 38 -born 83- just so thats on the table :D
I take it you've streamed before? If so will you post the Twitch link in here so people can see what happened in previous episodes from other games you've DM'd? You have a really good idea here and I hope it works for you and your players.
I've streamed several times before. I dont intend to post my twitch link here, I will post it separately on my Twitch account, which is separate from my Beyond account. Since I have streamed these types of games before, and I have had issues with trolls that come into the game to cause trouble, I have gone to extreme lengths to not associate my DNDBeyond account with my Twitch and Youtube account. So, yes I will be posting the link when the Livestream Debut arrives 1 month from Friday, but for my protection and for the protection of the players, I will not be posting here to associate their faces with their Beyond accounts. Or mine for that matter.
I still need one more slot, all other slots have been filled. So, if you want it. You'll have to apply directly in private message. But, a disclaimer, I protect the identities of my players, so I wont be associating the Live Stream link to this post. Be well.
Hello, is every game scheduled for Friday’s from 6-9 pm pacific time or just session zero? How do you handle emergencies or sick players? Are they immediately booted or do you work around that?
Hello, is every game scheduled for Friday’s from 6-9 pm pacific time or just session zero? How do you handle emergencies or sick players? Are they immediately booted or do you work around that?
Sick players are handled in a case by case basis. If you try to give 24 hours notice, Im pretty lenient. With six players, if one player is missing for a session, it wont harm things too much. So, I'll likely carry on with the story in your absence. There are a couple of factors that determine if you as a player stays, if you are sick more than 3 times. Factor 1 is if you gave enough notice to the DM beforehand, of course you can only give as much notice as you can if you're sick on the day of the stream. But if its 15 mins before going live and you're just hitting me up about being sick, well thats a ding against you. The second and probably the more important factor is if the audience approves of your presence in the campaign. If your class is essential and if there is chemistry with you and other players. I wont kick a player for being sick, but if you establish a pattern without consideration for time and if the audience aren't fans of your performance, then yeah you could be booted. But Im pretty fair, I give plenty of opportunity for growth. That is why the first 3 sessions are not broadcasted. We have to see if the group meshes well enough. Its not just about the game and the story, but its also about the comic relief, the casual enjoyment of the game and if there are players that are there to just cause trouble. For instance, the last time I did this. I had one player that was there to pickpocket all the players, since his skill was so high, no one really could do anything about it until he pickpocketed a higher up NPC and he was caught, because of this and because he was part of a group, the entire group suffered as a result of the selfish attention seeking of that one player. Stuff like that is a good way to see the exit. But, if you're there to have fun, perform, earn a few bucks and make sure that you are getting along with others, then I welcome you.
You should also know that this event is being sponsored by a private sponsor who will run commercials every hour for 2 minutes. In addition, we'll have 2 moderators in the chat at all times and making sure that players are adhering to the rules set forth. He sees an entire industry of people performing D&D in a theatrical setting for others to enjoy, and he wants in on the ground floor. So the money isn't the issue, the streaming channel design and the display isn't the issue, its really just making sure players are staying to their character, are working with eahcother and are approved by the audience. This particular sponsor is very well known in his own right on youtube and twitch and intends to send many of his own subs to the channel once we debut. So, we're not looking for small time commitment in the end. We're looking for people who really want to pour their heart into their character. And have fun while doing it.
Hey there! I'm rather impressed with your forwardness. I actually currently DM a group during this time on Fridays, however, I'm so intrigued that I'm willing to try and ask them to schedule a different time. But before I do that, let's talk a little bit? I can see you're very serious about this platform being something special! At the very least, if we talk and you decide it's not a good fit, then I'd be happy just to walk away having talked a bit about it. I'll tell you a little bit about me and you can message me if you're interested in talking!
age - 25
Experience 4 years as player 1 as DM
favorite parts of D&D - The roleplay. I love to put on a voice and play a character very well. I love to interact with other players in a story driven and sometimes humorous manner. I should've been a theater major, I just love this aspect of D&D!
Where I thrive in RP - I function best as a background character. I don't act as a leader, but as a follower who contributes well. I tend to add humor or seriousness in ways that don't hold up story progression.
Currently only have a laptop for the camera and mic, I hope that's not an immediate no
I love to listen to other players explain things or talk, and I appreciate when I'm treated the same.
I'm looking to commit heavily with my schedule after the end of June.
Reasons why I wouldn't play
will not play if we're using discord
will not play if there are excessive amounts of sexual themes, language, or harassment.
will not play if we're not allowed to spend a little time to chat before and after the campaign. I really want to create an amazing story, but I want to create it with people that I care about. That's what makes it special to me. A group of friends working together towards a common goal.
If my group doesn't agree to switch our meeting time then I don't think I can do it sadly. I can't abandon my own!
I feel like that's a decent amount of info for your consideration. Let me know if you're interested, I'd love to talk! I very much believe it would be both our whiles.

I like this, send me a direct message and Ill give you more information and my discord. I think you might be the right fit for something I want to impart on you for story purpose. Since youre a DM, you can probably appreciate why I might want to impart a unique storyline to your character, hit me up. Lets talk.
I am interested. The dressing up sounds fun. And the premise and motive is ambitious. The only issue is that I'm from the UK. And 6pm for you is 2 am for me. So if something could happen to do with an earlier time that would be cool, but if the time can't change thats fine. Good luck with this venture.
And the DM paying the players is a really strange concept. Makes me almost think trickery is afoot...

A warning to you all, the Fey stalk your hall.
HEY, no stealing my storylines pal! LOL
You can join, it looks like the last applicant may not be able to play, as it conflicts with a different time schedule, so that opens a slot up. Send a me a message directly.

Totally understandable. Hope this works well for you and the players. Cheers!
You are certainly providing a wonderful adventure for those players who've made the cut. Perhaps sometime in the future, you may decide to do this again. Please consider me as an "also ran," or runner-up, or "the guy who couldn't make it last time, but sure sounded like he'd have fit the mold."
Why would I ask for a future gig with your streaming? Not prepared at present. I don't have a costume readily available, nor a bow or blades. That can be remedied, given some time. So... please keep me in mind?
What do I bring to the (virtual) table? Prior experience as a Player from the late 70s to early 80s (AD&D, Traveler, DragonLance). I know how to generate a Character, and am comfortable with dice rolls. Above and beyond that, I seem to be an actor at heart. I did a couple stage plays in school. I was an on-air DJ for a Contemporary Christian radio station in Austin TX, while assigned to Bergstrom AFB (before they closed it to turn it into a civilian airport). I've read to my children from such classics as The Narnia Chronicles and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, using distinct voices for the main characters.
For a D&D campaign, the action and combat are an integral part; yet for me, the STORY has always been the thing to keep me engaged. I can and will remain in character, as well as solicit responses from other players. There's a certain synergy brought on by engaging with the other players. It adds spice and magic to the whole story, making it memorable.
So... If you need someone with this kind of mindset and skill set, look me up and we'll talk...

Reasons why I wouldn't play
Cheers!
TheMountain2021,
You are certainly providing a wonderful adventure for those players who've made the cut.
~Sam
