Greetings, I am looking for a singular player whom is interested in joining an ongoing homebrewed D&D campaign following 5e rules/handbooks that is long term. The game is conducted on discord for voice, roll20 for combat, and game times are 2 - 5 PM PST (GMT -8). Each session runs for 3 hours maximum.
All of the players are 18+ as a mature game is in mind. My games do not feature anything of discomfort as I am solely looking for a player who wishes to commit to a long term D&D campaign and wishes to engage in a more serious game.
If you are interested, below you will find the GAME INFORMATION and CAMPAIGN INFORMATION. PLEASE ANSWER the small questionnaire at the end here on the forums or through a PM, and subsequently leave your discord here or through said PM.
GAME INFORMATION
Game: D&D 5e Group Type: Online (Discord) Current Group Size: 6 Players Experience: Preferably Experienced Players, but Beginners are welcome Location/Timezone: Discord | PST (GMT -8) Schedule: Sundays (2 - 5 PM | GMT -8) Game Style: Following the 5e rules/handbooks with a few house rules. Players delve into a character driven story where their actions and backstory dictate the narrative with an overarching plot in the background. I run my campaigns usually as a 70/30 split (70 % RP / 30 % Combat).
This is a long term campaign meaning all players are expected to commit. Breaks are often taken as playing D&D every week is not a realistic expectation for both DM and players alike, whether it be for holidays, players having a prior commitment, or for the sake of taking a week here and there off throughout the year. This group is already planning on meeting through the rest of 2022 as much as possible. The campaign will end when each of the players have undergone their individuals character arcs, and the central overarching plot is tied up by the players.
CAMPAIGN INFORMATION
OVERVIEW The campaign takes place within the World of Athera, a homebrewed light dark fantasy setting.
WORLD/SETTING Athera was created by a divine entity known as the Goddess. This world houses all manner of races, creatures, and various other forms of beings upon several continents spanning hundreds of miles.
The campaign takes place within the continent of Sirrus, the main region which comprises of the central continent of Athera and some of the surrounding islands. Whether the players wish to interact and change the course of the era in small or large ways is entirely up to them. The world moves while characters go about their lives, and their actions may or may not have consequences and lasting changes. Various deities of Athera will not sit idly by either. Each has their own purpose, will and pursuits, and how they choose to shape the outcome of events is up to the players to discover.
CURRENT CAMPAIGN Current Campaign has already been under way for a year. I am aiming to engage my players within a campaign which starts small and eventually turns into a large scale epic which they can become heroes or the like or explore different ventures that they come across. All of my campaigns are good centered, as I am not one for an evil campaign. This campaign features elements of Final Fantasy, a few scrambles of typical D&D action, and some other aspects I take inspiration from.
The campaign has not progressed past the first arc where the players have met and are dealing with the subsequent issues and challenges that have arise. Group is still getting to know one another, and is still ample enough time for you to join in and have a good enough start to not feel lost.
GENRE/TONE Athera is a Lighter Dark Fantasy, the actions of players can have consequences and effects on those around them whether they knew it or not. The current campaign is combining elements of a traditionally familiar fantasy experience and taking a more serious tone when it comes to the actions of the players and the world around them. This campaign is operating on this idea of treating it as a "Darker Final Fantasy"
PLAYER EXPERIENCE As stated before, Athera is designed to feel familiar to players of D&D while also offering a fresh new setting for players to experience a campaign within. Each player is given enough time to weave a backstory with me into the world and watch as their character undergoes their own arc which can be tailored by themselves or with my help in the campaign.
My campaigns operate on a open world style setting where the players' backstories determine the plot and ongoing on the group. There is an overarching narrative which ties each players together and it is up to the players and their actions on how the campaign will go. text

Hi! My name’s Cami, it’s lovely to meet you. My discord tag is Bebelinda#2026 🖤
Are you able to play Sundays consistently at 2-5 PM PST (GMT-8) Yes, I am.
Is this your first D&D campaign as a player? No, this would be my third, albeit the first two were very short lived.
Give an example of an experience you've had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked I don’t really have any experiences actually playing the game that I’ve enjoyed very well, as in the first campaign the rest of my group didn’t seem to be very interested at all and during the second, it was run by a DM who I didn’t click with all that well. I will say that my least favourite moment was during the session zero of that second campaign, when the DM destroyed all that my character had left in the world, all of her connections, as if they were a cheap plot device as a way of ‘inspiring’ her to move on and start adventuring.
Is there anything from previous campaigns that you wish was in other campaigns? Not that I can immediately think of, but I’d definitely like the chance to build up some strong connections between characters.
Are you willing to commit to a long-term campaign? Yes, absolutely. I have far too much free time on my hands and I really want to fill some of it with a game I’ve come to love.

Is this your first D&D campaign as a player?
No I have played through one full campaign before this one and many sessions of other games as well.
Give an example of an experience you've had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked
Am experience that I really enjoyed playing in a previous game is when I joined the game partially through the course of the game my character felt like they were already tied to the game world in an interesting way. Also my dm made it very easy to tie my backstory into the overarching plot of the game. An experience I had that I didn't like was in an earlier campaign my dm had implemented certain rules into the game that made the game not fun to play and it made the players lose interest by not making certain changes to the rules .
Is there anything from previous campaigns that you wish was in other campaigns?
I hope that there is ample opportunity for downtime activities. I feel like downtime is a great way for characters to roleplay and sometimes gather some mechanical bonuses like feats or extra proficiencies in skills.
Are you willing to commit to a long-term campaign?
Yes, as long as everyone at the table is willing as well im happy to commit time to the game.
My discord is jayo#2409 thank you for any consideration! :)

Are you able to play Sundays consistently at 2-5 PM PST (GMT-8) Sundays are good, during the summer, but in Sept-May I bowl in a League. Would moving to Saturday's during that time frame be viable? I am also located CST so I am two hours ahead so that time frame for me would be 4-7 I believe.
Is this your first D&D campaign as a player? No, I am currently playing in two, one of which is a podcast, and I have played in three other short run campaigns
Give an example of an experience you've had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked As a player I enjoy extensive story telling, World Building, and discriptive enviromental detail. I am currently in a game in which not all the players are engaging.
Is there anything from previous campaigns that you wish was in other campaigns? Not that I can really think of currently. I have had pretty good DMs so far.
Are you willing to commit to a long-term campaign? Yes, absolutely. Hopefully I can join up, and hopefully the scheduling can work, if selected.
Are you able to play Sundays consistently at 2-5 PM PST (GMT-8) Most of the time! I'm an online college student/part-time Nanny who mostly has control over my hours, and with the exception of this coming Sunday, I'm free.
Is this your first D&D campaign as a player? It will be my first D&D Campaign ever, so I am very unexperienced. I have the Player's Handbook, a WIFI connection, and a set of dice to my name. I am a very patient and very willing learner who does their best through experience, so if you and your campaign are willing to teach, I am willing to learn!
Are you willing to commit to a long-term campaign?
Though in hindsight it would probably be beneficial for me to start with a smaller campaign, I would personally prefer a long-term campaign and am willing to commit to such (should part and circumstances allow). Go big or go home, eh?
A little about myself...
Personality wise, I'll remind anyone of a paladin: Big, kind, passionate, and admittedly sometimes a dumbass. I am a huge fan of dragons so anything involving dragons will receive 100% of my attention and love. I completely despise extreme in-party conflict and will often play peace-keeper to avoid it, though of course a little rivalry and clashing is expected and healthy. I enjoy improvising, but if a plan if provided I'll stick to it (most of the time). I look forward to roleplaying and the adrenaline of combat, as well as hopefully making friends along the way.

The last game I played I was a Kender in the world of Dragonlance before the cataclysm. I was so immers in the RP that I forgot my character was created as a halfling and I could have rerolled my failled save because it was a 1. A dragon freightened her and caused her to lose her left hand when the same dragon bit it off. All because of that fail save I forgot I could have rerolled....

Are you able to play Sundays consistently at 2-5 PM PST (GMT-8) Yes. That time works great for me. I work nights anyway, so if we ever had to move the day, I'd be okay with almost any time.
Is this your first D&D campaign as a player? Nope. I played DND in college, have had a turn being a GM for a seafaring campaign, and I just finished a level 20 one-shot that left me wanting more.
Give an example of an experience you've had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked I am very into backstory and roleplaying. So, an experience I've enjoyed immensely was knitting a story with the other players/characters. Growing alongside others, developing inside jokes... being able to literally see a story laid out before my eyes and be a part of it. It is something I can't accurately describe.
An experience I've disliked are sad endings. Correction: pointless endings. I don't want an ending or conclusion that feels hollow. What the characters have done should matter. Even if they die, they should leave inspiration for those who follow.
Is there anything from previous campaigns that you wish was in other campaigns? Not in particular. I've played with advanced weaponry like rifles, ships, cannons... I even played a star wars campaign. Everything has it's flavor. As long as the world feels real, I can get behind anything.
Are you willing to commit to a long-term campaign? Absolutely. I have been looking for a long-term campaign for a few months now, dying to do exactly what you said. Start with bumbling adventurers who grow stronger together and eventually become heroes. I would love to chance to join. (^-^)/

Hi, sorry. After reading other posts I noticed my answers were a bit dry. I have been playing for a while, usually one-shots. My longest game I got to level 10 but stopped playing right when we leveled up to 10. I would love to carry my next character beyond level 10. I am looking forward to reaching level 20. Even though I have some favorite character races and classes I am also open to playing whatever is needed. I love to RP and combat. Once my character is created I love to dive into the backstory and develop her (they have always been women). Thank you for the opportunity

Hiya, I was reading through the others who have applied and found myself nodding along to your words. I've had some negative experiences with campaigns myself. I had a GM in my first campaign completely ruin my character's story, and all the supporting characters I built for her. So kind of the opposite of your session zero kerfunkle. I'm glad that you found out so soon and were able to get away from that experience. Still, my heart goes out to you.
Creating connections between characters and weaving a story is the best part. (^-^)
I'm pretty sure there is only one slot open for this campaign. I don't know if one of us will get it, or neither of us, or maybe the GM will somehow decide to let us both in... Whatever the case. I'd love to connect and discuss characters with you. Or perhaps play a game together, I don't know. I just felt a lot of what you were saying and identified with it. That's all.
My discord is Austin#4955 if you'd like to connect. If not, totally fine. I hope that you find the amazing adventuring party you deserve.
Hello! Moorudel or Moo or Drax here, hope i'm not too late to present my own submission to be part of this campaing. My discord is DraxamirAD#5411
Are you able to play Sundays consistently at 2-5 PM PST (GMT-8) I am, if my math is correct even with the small time difference I'm always available during Sundays.
Is this your first D&D campaign as a player? Short answer, as a player, yes. Long answer, I've been a forever DM and guide for tabletop games a few years, however my old crew split not too long ago. So I'm fully familiar with the game system and now I'm trying my hand at the player experience.
Give an example of an experience you've had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked Well I can give some DM experience, I do enjoy the experimentation that goes into creating characters. I remember that in one occassion the characters had split during downtime to train into their subclasses (this was about when they reached level 3) and the reason they regrouped was due to an NPC that each of the PCs individually befriended, was sudendly in distress. So it was a fun session where each player came up with how they befriended this NPC and that also helped them discover bonding themes with eachother. On the other hand, a disliked experience would be when i had to deal with a player that constantly PM me during game sessions to talk smack about the other players, I wish I had dealt with that better.
Is there anything from previous campaigns that you wish was in other campaigns? More focus on exploration, but thats just me. I love discovering how a world works and all the details around how people see the world that is presented to them. Also a more challenging set of rules and homebrew is always fun to explore.
Are you willing to commit to a long-term campaign? I kinda am ready to be rid of the forever DM curse, at least to refresh my own view of the game. So commitment is not a problem for me, and respect to all the work that goes into DM... its fun but i sure did miss sleeping some nights.
