Schedule: 8 to 11 PM EST Weekdays or Weekends (depends on flexibility of all players)
Roles sought: 4-6 players
Game style: I tend to lean heavy into the RP side instead of combat so I'd say it's a 70/30 balance with a mix of other things such as dungeon crawls.
About Me: When I first tried to play back in high school D&D was considered taboo but I still wanted to play. Getting over my fear of being the Dungeon Master I decided to dive into the Lost Mine with a local group of friends and knew from the moment we started I loved it. The story is only as good as the players and communications with each other and the DM. It's all about having fun and rolling the dice and feeling like you're that character! I use to play solely offline until COVID hit. For the past 2 years I've been doing exclusively online and want to try my hand at offline again.
DM Style
I feed off YOUR energy. So the more in character you get, the more you throw me for a loop, the better the experience. I'll of course guide you and be patient to make sure you're happy with the story, your characters progress, and the way things are going. It is so highly crucial and important we have 360 feedback. Tell me what I'm doing wrong or can do better and I'll do so in return.
You, The Playa Playa
So you've made it this far and you're dying to apply and get things rolling. Let's slow down! I know that DMs on here get inundated with request so I please ask you be patient. I've got a hectic work schedule and sometimes things get lost. But I promise to respond back to each of you individually. Here are a couple of rules for the road as a player
It's a game! Enjoy it. Don't take it too seriously! NEVER let it impact your personal life.
Please do not be a creep. I've DMed tables with all girls, all males, and a mix. We're not here for eHarmony but to have fun. You will immediately be removed from the session if you make someone uncomfortable.
Do the homework and read up a bit! I'm always happy to help and guide (Heaven knows I'll never memorize EVERYTHING) but at least read up where you can.
Get into your character. So you're a silver tongued bard who disarms people with poetry and song? Demonstrate your skills! You'll enjoy DND way more if you get into character.
Don't forget to love each other. We all have struggles in life. Mental, Physical, and Emotional. If we have to cancel a session because someone needs the break, always be kind.
How to Apply
You'll be required to use a laptop/tablet to run Discord and DNDbeyond. It is where I organize sessions, art, backstories, rolls, etc. To make sure you and I are on the same page, I need to personally request we have a friendly interview. You can reach out to me here (slow response) or Discord (faster response) TheDungyMastaJD#5017. We'll have a friendly chat over voice or video (don't care which).
If the interview goes well and we're on the same page; I'll start working on you with the premise of a character and backstory. Please do not read ahead and look into the Descent into Avernus book. You'll spoil the story for yourself.
The Group meeting! This is where things start to really kick off when we all meet as a group to introduce ourselves to each other. So important we talk, get red topics out of the way (we'll discuss more), and figure out scheduling. Sessions usually run 2-3 hours.
If you've made it this far, kudos. If you still have questions, Discord really is the best way to get to me. Cheers and can't wait to meet you all.
Sincerely,
DM JD
P.S. - extra brownie points if you can do an accent! Even if its God awful.
