Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online (Discord, DDB, roll20) Experience: Anything from "I've played a few sessions" on up Location/Timezone: DM is on North American West Coast time (currently UTC-7); players are international. Schedule: Noon, Saturday/Sunday on alternating weekends Roles sought: 1 player each for Saturday and Sunday groups; the two groups communicate in and out of character, and player characters can make "guest appearances" with the other group if you'd like an extra session. Game style: The balance between roleplaying/storytelling, exploration, negotiation and combat is a fairly reasonable "investigate, try to negotiate, but be ready for a combat-heavy dungeon crawl when necessary." Characters who resort to violence as their first option would not fit well into the story.
An established campaign (we've been going for over a year) is looking for 1-2 new players to help adjust for some players' work-based schedule instability. We have incorporated new players in the past, and I've made a point of developing backstories (and adjusting my plans to integrate new players into the story) rather than just having characters follow along; I would prefer players who are interested in detailed connections to the setting. (I don't expect encyclopedic knowledge of the Forgotten Realms/Sword Coast setting; we can work through the possibilities.)
The game structure is a bit unusual -- there are two parties (one on Saturdays, the other on Sundays) in the same continuity who communicate and interact and whose storylines are linked (but usually with a different session-to-session focus). The campaign uses material from most of the Forgotten Realms and setting-agnostic published material, though usually with significant details changed. Since each group usually meets every other week, missing a player or two for a session due to RL demands on time has been an issue when the parties are too small; I'm looking for players (especially one for the Sunday session, but another for Saturday would also be welcome, and either party could potentially accommodate two new player characters) who expect to be able to make it to at least 80-90% of the time.
The campaign is LGBTQ+ inclusive in terms of both players (including the DM) and characters (PC and NPC). Not all characters are necessarily heroic, but unnecessarily violent or vicious characters would not mesh well. There are some heavy themes, but we try to keep things on what I think of as a "would be appropriate for streaming media" level and avoid anything more explicit. There have been a very few romantic elements in player characters' stories; these aren't off-limits, but will not be the focus of the campaign.
Anyone interested, please send a message. The characters are currently at level 10; if you have an idea for a character, what might they have been up to in their early adventuring career?
Hey I'm interested, I've been playing dnd for around 3 or 4 years, I lack a character idea as of this moment but I can most likely come up with a fairly in-depth one in time, my discord is Atalantos#6637 if you wish to get into contact to discuss the campaign further.
