As the tag suggests, this humble poster is a Forever DM who never gets a chance to, you know, actually play. I hear it's really fun! I work a regular M-F 8-5 shift and would love a weekday group that meets about monthly or biweekly. My weekends are kind of spoken for, which makes it harder.
What's my experience, you ask? Well, do you know that in the very first boxed set (the red one), you had to color in the numbers on your dice with the included crayon? Did you know there used to be a Cavalier class? Well, I do! I have been playing this game (or rather, running this game) since 1st Edition. Of course, back then, we called it just D&D.
Realistically, I would want to play 5E in a campaign that has RP, but isn't the rule. I like RPing and don't mind if others do! I personally don't do things inmy campaigns such as track food and water consumption, and my weight system is pretty generous. I also don't make PCs count normal ammunition (but magical? Oh, yes, you better count that!). I would like a game that is about this relaxed. I don't care what level we start.
Let me promise a few things that I WON'T do:
1. I won't use my knowledge to min/max my PC. I personally think that is not much fun. I don't want to stand in the entrance, shoot my bow and kill everything, and then have the arrow bring me the loot. Boring!
2. I also won't use my knowledge to wreck your game. Yes, I 'know' that trolls need fire or acid to not regenerate. Does my PC 'know' this? That's for the DM to decide!
3. At this point, I have a firm grasp of what annoys a DM. Don't expect me to yell numbers at you, just because, or try to take 8 actions a round. I also, strange to say out loud, pay attention and take notes!
Am I dreaming of the 'perfect game?' Maybe! But, a man can dream!
