I am excited about Spelljammer and want to get a group together to run a bit of it when it comes out.
The schedule is every other Saturday starting 8/16 or 8/30. I am in the US Pacific time zone, but my hours are pretty flexible on those days.
I'm looking for 3-5 players for me to DM. I'm an experienced DM and am used to working with newbies and other systems and house rules.
The plan is to use voice chat on my Discord and use an online tabletop (probably Roll20, but Fantasy Grounds may be an option, too) for the visuals and the tactics.
Elevator Pitch: Cowboy Bebop meets the Witcher in Spelljammer.
My vision for this game is to be focused on your characters and their arcs, with some lighter monster/bounty-of-the-week kind of stuff. The meat of the game is character arcs, with combat growing out of that. So yes combat, but not too overly concerned with ideal tactics and strategy. We'll keep it mechanically casual - give me rule of cool here. That includes 3rd party or DMs Guild stuff. If it's cool, let's see it. Like the source material suggests, expect to be poor in gold and rich in *style*. Expect your past to catch up with you and your future to maybe be more about saving yourself and those you love than about saving the world. Bring me your rivals, your alienated mentors, your former partners, your dark histories yearning to be told in play. Be a little bit desperate, a little bit broken. It's more fun that way.
Hey, I'm super interested! I don't know much about either of the inspiration but I like backstories being integral. my discord is Oni-Musashi#6637 please do add me if you want to talk about this further
Hi I would like to play. I’m from South Africa. I’ve played dnd on tabletop before but haven’t played in a few years. I only have my phone so I don’t know what platforms would work.
I am interested in possibly participating in the campaign. I have decades of gaming with DnD since the mid-80s. I do have Discord if that would be easier to communicate "HHBATMTE-Kevin#2689"
Hey! I'm super interested in playing this! I'm a total newbie, never played a game, but I love the Cowboy Bebop inspiration, it's one of my favorite shows! I've been looking for an RP/story heavy game with rule of cool, and my schedule is similar to yours! My discord is jamie_love32#9753, hope to hear from you!
This sounds so cool, I'm interested in playing! I'm a newbie, but I'm really excited to try out D&D, and I've never seen Cowboy Bebop but I love the Witcher, and I'm the most excited about the roleplay - I can do Saturdays in the evenings too! My discord is Andi#0714, hope I can make the cut!
Hey I don’t know if your still open. But I’d love to join. I have a few years of experience playing as both a player and Dm, and my discord is mr.memes08#0802
HAIL AND WELL MET! You obviously have a lot of interested folk already, but if you want a guilt-ridden cleric who is trying to make amends for a wicked past by travelling with these adventurers and helping those he can along the way, let me know!
Howdy, fellow space cowboy. I tip my fedora to you.
I'm pretty interested in your game and would love to indulge in some rule of cool. It is the best way to enjoy what is basically adult make believe. Though I will keep it nice and short for you, just so I don't lose your attention. So, a little about me, in a bullet point format:
Name: Matija (Or Nate, whichever is easier)
RPG Experience: Oh boy, after a certain point, time starts becoming an anomaly. I think it's been 5 years now? I've played mostly DnD but I did also indulge in other systems here and there. Though whatever the system is, I adore roleplaying and have been doing it as a hobby even out of official games! It's just something about immersing yourself in a character for hours at a time that helps one get away from the worldly problems for a time. And maybe even working on their own as they explore a fascinating mix of their fantasies as well as spins of their own mind. Strange how such a simple concept can shape someone so much.
Character Concept: I was hoping to explore the idea of a struggler. One who dares whirl with destiny out of defiance, despite what the outcome may hold. For what is a man without a will? He would ideally be a personification of mortal impudence that knows no bounds, and the strength it can provide. A struggler, fighting a possibly fleeting battle against the nature of the world that has brought him in. Against the world, against society, against fate, and lastly... against himself. It's the journey of unyielding perseverance, chasing something which may in fact be unreachable. Yet not stopping despite knowing that fact. I would like to explore the dangerous human grit that is rivaled only by great Greek poems. And how such things can become more frightening than any divine punishment. I would like to explore what it truly means to be a monster.
(Mechanics wise, it would definitely be a sort of a Herculean barbarian. Definitely would love enacting feats of mythical strength in order to carve a path for my fellow party, all the while standing in front, and taking the brunt of the enemy's hate. Blows that strike me instead, can't shatter my friends. Or just jumping off of a space ship to suplex a space dragon. I mean, c'mon!)
A little more about myself: I'm a giant geek at heart despite being an avid sportsman and fighter. You could say that it's a rare breed, being able to mingle with both nerds and jocks, but I find that duality very endearing. Helps you find plenty of interesting people across the way, whether they be adversaries on the field, or online friends over DnD. Whatever the case may be, I love interacting with them and do hope to make some strong bonds with those who are willing!
This seems really interesting to me (well done on your pitch) and you seem pretty passionate about it. I love on the east coast, but my schedule is mostly free so time differences aren’t really an issue. On my experience, I can’t say that I’m necessarily new, but I have only played a couple of campaigns that flopped after the first few sessions. As a player I like to try to think outside the box, try to stretch what may be possible, but not in a way that may be potentially disruptive to the game. I really hope to hear back from you, my discord is Crimson Dragon#7719.
