Campaign Info
Each played character's back story will be involved with this campaign which means each character will be of this world. Each will have a reason for their journey, there is an overarching quest but each player should have a personal quest as well which drives them.
"You want to hear the story of what was Destin you say? Well its story begins as once a nation that unified all manners of life in a cohesive society. Every day conflicts still arose making life still sometimes difficult. Although the world has it's many dangers Destin had little need for grand armies or incredible defenses as the nation is secluded from most of the world, leaving it alone for its recorded existence. Ill skip the first several millennia, what's been recorded has been mundane; despite individuals always seeking to change that; particularly champions of the arena’s and the competitive hunters who aimed for glory amongst their peers in hopes of one day being recorded in history scripts.
But with most things these competitions became repetitive and predictable. Creating yet another dull and repetitive span of time for Destin. Until around 300 years ago; life’s simplistic nature was abruptly disrupted when a portal opened near the capital and monstrosities flooded the land and began wreaking havoc on the nation. The portal lastly breifly but the damage was done, thousands of creatures had made their way to this plane of existence making their way through villages and kingdoms tearing through the little defenses established. Destin was forced to form an alliance of prior champions, hunters and newly created creatures of magic warriors known as the warforged. This united force had its final stand after years of battles in the land now known as Aftermath, this final battle waged on for days with hundreds losing their lives. Although massive amount of casualties occurred they were victorious in killing the monstrosity. People refer to this event as the Grey War.
The repercussions of this war eventually left the nation divided Destin's people couldn’t come to terms on how they would rebuild their home. Some wanting to delve deeper into magic and see if they could harness the ferocious power of different planes and the monsters that reside in them, others wanted to try and regain some form of normalcy like they had before the Grey War. With so many opinions factions were to come to form driven by upset with the current balance of Destin eventually leading to the five regions we know today. If you have read this to this point thank you for taking the time please continue and post somewhere in your thread that you like baby pandas. River Run, a fairly newer developed region of farmland and small towns. Izeria, the home of magic as their people are completely engrained in the many uses of magic, incorporating its capabilities into the regions way of living. Malyn the kingdom of the abandoned, home to creatures and people who don’t fit into the "ideal" society. Widely regarded as the region for the individuals who like to live on the edge of life's boundaries with little regard to rules and regulations. Tules, the now mysterious land home to the remnants of fierce warforged warriors and animal humanoids. And lastly, the land of Fairdum besieged by war and destruction formally the capital of our nation and now known as Aftermath. "

I like baby pandas. I am 27 years old, looking to join a DnD campaign. I dont have a lot of experience, but I do have some. I've done two campaigns in the past that got cut short. My discord is Arthur#2523
Experience: I've only played one campaign so far, but I've been watching/listening to the game for the last few years (e.g. Dimension 20, NADDPOD, Critical Role, etc.). I am aware that these are shows and that gameplay can differ for not-for-viewer-consumption games. I have a very good grasp of how the various game mechanics work (combat, skill checks, saving throws etc.). I'm really only familiar with 5e.
Why I want to play: I find the game as a nice getaway. All aspects of gameplay (roleplay, exploration, combat) can be so interesting and fun. There is always the fate of the dice influencing how an encounter plays out but layered with that is the myriad of decisions each player adds to the mix. These choices, to me, help create a fleshed-out story, and that's something I love being a part of.
What I looking for in an adventure: Good storytelling and world-building. I am rather flexible with everything else. I enjoy experiencing the game in its many different settings and flavors. As long as its a good story I am down for just about anything. The world of Destin you've described sounds fantastic so far.
Hi! My name is Joshua, and I am 22, from the US got grew up in Europe and Asia.
Experience: 6 years experience with 5e, and 12 years overall playing 3.5, 4e, and Pathfinder 1st edition. Almost exclusively as a DM, so I know as many rules as I can and have created several homebrew worlds and am a collaborative player, working to invest in the story and the other players and have fun with my character while still giving others a chance to shine.
Why I want to play: I love telling stories with others, making memories and occasionally friendships while playing this wildly wacky game that a lot of us learn to love. Connecting with the narrative and learning how to improvise and run with what the dice give you and what the DM can provide can also give you a great deal of empathy. I also love the conflict of the factions you've described, and the segmenting of society in the wake of war is a really interesting mental exercise to try and inundate your character with the knowledge to feel whole in the world.
What I am looking for in an adventure: A story that we can remember filled with laughter, twists, turns, mysteries, and drama. Variety is the spice of life, and if the PCs and the NPCs both have a layer of internal conflict and subtextual motivation, that can be really quite fun to experiment with.
Ofc baby pandas are cool and I like them, I saw a few when I was in Korea, actually!
