My gaming group and I started a Discord server about 2 years ago to keep track of several games we run. We’ve played a handful of different systems (D&D 5e, Monster of the Week, Tales From the Loop, Monsterhearts, Pathfinder 2e, etc) and are interested in further expanding our repertoire. However, given the fact that we frequently have scheduling conflicts that prevent us from getting ideas and subsequent games off the ground, we’re interested in bringing approximately 3-5 fresh faces into the fold.
The motivation behind the server is to have a small community of trusted friends you can look to when searching for a new game to join, or players for a game you want to run. I don’t know about you, but gauging whether a random online campaign is going to be inclusive, safe, and fun can be a challenging experience. As a group made up of LGBTQ+ people and POC, we want to build a space where people like us can explore everything tabletop games have to offer.
We’re especially hopeful to include people who don’t already have a gaming group or haven’t been able to play in a game yet. Many queer people do not have a dedicated, chill group of people that they can game with, and we’re happy to open the door to this space for those folks.
Some of our past (and present) games include:
A found family explore an infinite university, cannibalistic gods, and gay pirates in a magic ocean on the cusp of war
Ghost hunting twitch streamers discover that the real monsters are the friends they made along the way
Cursed with everlasting vampiric unlife, one man with too much power makes his incel status everyone else’s problem
Arcadia and the Underworld collide in the Big Easy as a wayward Changeling devours local ghosts to fill the void left by her broken heart
Six strangers begrudgingly solve the mystery of an old horny capitalist's death whilst uniting secret lovers, aiding a factory strike, and saving the local ecosystem
Hunting down an invisible pyromaniac in a small PNW town while balancing the traumas of our freshman year of high school
There are tons of things we would love to run in the future, including (but not limited to):
A Western/cowboy-themed monster hunting mystery [MotW]
A pastoral, solarpunk post-post-apocalypse adventure [ICON]
An important Ministry figure is assassinated during the most important Drow cultural festival of the year, and it’s up to you to find out why [Spire: The City Must Fall]
A science fantasy and/or space opera sandbox game [Starfinder]
A magical regency game full of drama, intrigue, fashion, and hand touches [Good Society/5e?]
In general, we prefer to have a lighter, more narrative tone in the games we run. We’re very easygoing people and don’t believe any part of the relationship between a DM and player should be adversarial. If you’re someone who wants to craft a fun and compelling story with some new friends, you’ll fit in just fine.
Some info about the server in general to help set expectations:
We have 14 people, several of which have joined the server since it was first made
The majority of the server is based in the Americas, but other time zones are at play as well
Currently 3 longform campaigns are running, with at least 1 new campaign expected to start in the next month or so
One shots (or short, mini-campaigns) happen intermittently, approximately 3-5 per year
While built around TTRPGs, we are all friends who hang out in tons of different ways! Movie nights, writing coworking, Magic: the Gathering Commander games, virtual board game nights (Betrayal at House on the Hill, Twilight Imperium, etc), and all sorts of video games.
There are occasionally stretches of time where no new tabletop games are posted, and as a group we are largely okay with that – scheduling is difficult and everyone has real life responsibilities which come first.
If anything we’ve mentioned interests you, we’d love for you to apply! We’ll get back to you in the next few weeks. Let me know if you have any questions.
