Game: D&D 5e. We are playing in a homebrew world using a modified version of Princes of the Apocalypse in the background, we are still in the very beginning. We have detailed notes for each session.
Group Type: Online. We use the Zoom video camera during game time as we are a group that likes to see each other when we play (it’s fun to see each others’ faces when a surprise happens!) We typically use theatre of the mind with simple maps for help if needed. We utilize Discord to organize information.
Experience: DM has many years experience, ranging from D&D 1E to 5E. I have a few years experience as a player, mostly with 5E.
Location/Timezone: Saturday EST.
Schedule: Saturday. Game lasts from 6pm-10pm EST. We want players who can show up each Saturday on time. Our next scheduled game day is October 15th.
Roles Sought: 1 player. We currently have our DM and 4 players, but 2 of our players have some schedule issues here and there. Game Style:
Character Depth: To assist in making sure characters are well rounded, we will use two tools called “Knife Theory” and “Your Character’s Personality” to help develop characters. They will both be required to fill out (to a point) for your character. Don’t worry about feeling restricted, we are not holding you 100% to the profile you create, it’s supposed to be more of a guideline. There is also a discord filled with information that you can peruse through to help immerse yourself and character. If you have any questions that aren’t answered here or in the discord, please ask. Knives: https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/775caq/my_friends_and_i_have_something_called_knife/ Personality: https://thecharacterchick.tumblr.com/
When you are ready, fill out as much or as little of the character personality + knives as you wish and send it to me. I will admit I prefer character profiles that are filled out more rather than less. We have a week until we play again, so just send it to me sometime before Saturday the 15th.
Team Players: No Player vs. Player is allowed. We ask that you make characters that are not antagonistic with the party, that is what the villains are for. While our DM is pretty lenient about rules, the DM's rulings are final.
Semi-serious, Semi-casual? We like to joke about what’s happening in the game, but we also enjoy combat and roleplay. Some sessions are more game-progress focused, while others are more combat focused, it just depends on what’s happening in the game. Either way, we try to have good roleplay in either case. We prefer players who can be in-character, and even if you don't have a character voice (3 of our players use voices), please have a way for us to easily differentiate between when you vs. your character is speaking.
Active + Engaged: We like an active player, someone who will engage with the story and NPCs! Someone who will grow a friendship not just with the PCs, but with the NPCs, too.
Open + Honest: As the game is collaborative, the DM doesn’t want private messages about your character. We are generally an open group about our character backgrounds, fears, likes, etc. There is no meta-gaming allowed, do your best to keep player knowledge separate from character knowledge.
Mature: Players who are 18+ as there's some mature and dark content.
Please answer the following 3 questions.
1. Please read through these archetypes and pick a few out that you match. Feel free to customize and pick out individual examples in each archetype. We understand that an archetype may not match you 100%. http://dustin.*******.com/player-types 2. What are your best and worst D&D experiences? 3. Is there a character you have been eager to play?

Explorer/Watcher/Actor
2. What are your best and worst D&D experiences?
Worst have to be my first few years of gaming - I was just a power gamer min maxing rules lawyer that it just makes me cringe now - but that was a Looooong time ago
Best experiences would be when the group (characters and players) just gel together...normally once you've been able to play a few months together and you get to know about each other. That's when I've seen the best RP.
3. Is there a character you have been eager to play?
Have to say I'd love to play an explorer/investigator - Artificer or Rogue or Bard for class but someone who's about knowledge and skills.
