The City of Deldaruhm is a massive sprawling metropolis filled to the brim with traders. People all throughout the streets smile and laugh while raising glasses to toast the King of Lorem.
But as the midday sun raises to its peak the sky is quickly filled with dark clouds and from the clouds rain balls of fire onto the city. With destruction and death all around you and a few other unlucky people are stuck deep in the now flaming city with death raining down onto you.
Can you survive with people you dont know and manage to leave the city alive? Or will you join the throngs of dead burned to ash?
I use some homebrew rules which are kn the discord server along with banned races and spells.
Eldrainen is the world you are on. Its a vast world that is in a state of uneasy peace where war could break out at a moments notice. There are a handful of nations ruling over the lands from good to bad.
Libertas- a nation recently wracked by war with a powerful cult that worshipped a Dracolich, they were powerful before this but after the destruction of the capital city of Sesa their overall power has greatly diminished and the kings current status is unknown so each of the Dukes who held dominion on each Dukedom of the nation try to keep the people calm and try to recover their former peace and power. it has been 5 years since this war ended and the nation is recovering somewhat and is now no longer at risk of rebellion. Libertas is a nation of many races from the simple human to the celestial aasimar. race means little to the people of the nation and anyone can find refuge there if they look for it.
Dracones- A powerful militaristic nation south of Libertas that holds dominion over the southern Dragon Tooth Mountains. Dracones is ruled by a Triumvirate of powerful dragons headed by the dragon god of knowledge Arsair. the nations cares little for a persons wealth and only those with strength, cunning, and ambition can rise within the nation. Dracones is the only nation on Rixa that still practices slavery and the slaves of Dracones are forced into the military where they will either die or manage to earn their freedom and gain the nations support in becoming a citizen of the nation.
Nebula- a small land of death and undead. originally the homeland of the Aasimar race it was destroyed during the God Fell War by the God of Fog and all the major cities are now necropolis's guarded by mighty undead that even champions and heroes are wary of.
Aurum- A small mountain dwelling nation of humans who provide the continent with most of its ores thanks to the nations mountains which house veins of ore that regrow slowly after being mined. the nation is ruled by the descendent of the God of Precious metals and the people of the nation are hostile to most races outside human and orc
Deos- the largest and most powerful nation created by the Goddess of Victory. The orcs of Deos are highly religious and think of themselves as the protectors of Rixa and strive to cross the Ocean of Ghosts and wipe out the elves of Servus so that the destruction of the God Fell War can never come to pass again. Deos holds a very positive relationship with the other nations of Rixa and they are very accepting of the other races and religions. the Soldiers of Deos will aid people if they but ask and they request little in return for their assistance.
Arbores- A small jungle nation ruled by a council of beast race tribes who worship and protect the jungles of their home. Arbores is the least technologically advanced of the nations on Rixa and has strained relations with most of them though they do trade actively with Deos.
Doctrina- a nation of magic. Doctrina was founded by the Genasi race to during the time after the God Fell War ended and they strove to increase Rixa's magical knowledge and in the capital city of Khel the Goddess of Sorcerers founded a magic academy to gather that knowledge and to teach those with magical skill and potential on how to properly harness their abilities.
Lorem- a large desert nation that is home to the dwarven people. the dwarven clans used to be divided and competing against each other for the limited resources in the deserts of Lorem but a few centuries after the God Fell War the Goldforge Clan became the first artificers and using the power of magically enhanced items and tools they managed to successfully gather the clans and create the nation of Lorem. Lorem is a powerful nation focusing on trade and transportation, they are the most technologically advanced with basic steam engines and black powder guns. but despite this they are also powerful magically as they are home to the artificers and many of their rulers have reached the demigod status using the powers of an artificer.
In the world of Eldrainen its common knowledge that all gods were once mortals who managed to ascend after obtaining powerful items known as Ascension Artifacts.
In game terms a demigod is someone equivalent to a 16th level player character and to become a god one would need to be the equivalent of a 20th level character.
While the exact time for sessions are not set they will happen on Sundays.
To apply fill out this template and put it into the comments.
Experience with dnd 5e: 5 game sessions in total, around 2018. Played pen and paper roleplaying (a different system) in the 90's.
Favorite memory from a dnd game: I haven't had much of that so far, that I can remember at least.
A little about yourself: Family man looking to pick up another hobby that I have fond memories of as a kid.
Your discord tag: Erik#3208
Character ideas: 1) Custom Origin Gnome Fighter, was part of the city guard in a frontier town that got raided and plundered by war bands and pirates until the Duke decided to abandon the support for the town, and the local baron leaving. Thus I became unemployed and I decided to find my luck elsewhere. Is used to fighting in a formation, controlling the battlefield.
2) Half Orc barbarian. Born to a captive orc mother, I was raised in a human tribe of the boreal forest. Remarkably tough, I was never afraid to test my strength against whatever dangers that I faced in the tribe or the surrouding forest. A mercenary band once visited the tribe, and being a half breed, the tribe sold me into the band's service.
Favorite memory from a dnd game: As DM, having my players know they were being watched by an invisible creature and them not being able to do anything about.
A little about yourself: Math-brained person who likes self-depreciating humor and is looking for a distraction from reality
Your discord tag: Red_Enigma#7101
Character ideas: way too many to list, spanning all classes, races, and backgrounds which can be changed depending on your ban list.
Favorites include:
halfling bard who was a former sword thrower in a circus
dwarven cleric who worked as military quartermaster
halfling ranger who is from a clan of wolf riders
half-elf rogue who started work as an investigator/detective
human sorcerer who ran away from home at a young age
dragonborn warlock who works as an agent of a Hollow Dragon
halfling warlock who was an archeologist before making contact with a Djinn
goblin artificer who took up metalworking from dwarven and gnomish teachers
Expereince with DnD: 2.5 years mostly on zoom, some in person. all 5e
Favorite memory: Killing the final boss in my first campaign on my last round of combat with only a few HP. Building a backstory centered around my first character becoming an evil king and having to flee from him in my next campaign.
A little about yourself: Work in landscaping, always enjoyed lord of the rings and other fantasy genres. DnD feels like a nice way to escape into that. Video games just don't do it for me as much anymore.
Discord: Chrieighton#2323
Character ideas: Golbin monk, goblin barbarian parth of the beast, dward druid circle of the stars. Happy to go build a strong backstory for any of these.
Would depend entirely on when on Sunday and how long sessions are. Additionally, sounds to be a live game. Is it mic, text, or video+mic?
Name you go by(doesnt have to be real name): Z. Age: 35 Pronouns: male Time Zone: Currently West Coast USA (UTC-7). Post daylight Savings (nov 6?) (UTC-6). This will switch with daylight savings respecitvely. Experience with dnd 5e: Mainly post by post for 5e specifically. I have more exp in other systems (mainly in a room w/ friends or one group over roll20 w/ mics). I've tried one shots lately in 5E as I've fallen out of voice-RP habits. I do know all but the most recent rules rather well. Excluding moments where I cross them with Pathfinder, 2e pathfinder or starfinder rules. Favorite memory from a dnd game: From specifically D&D and not RP in general: using a rope of climbing's bonus action movement to have it climb through the railing and set of stairs, eventually telling it to knot/tight itself. creating a pretty decently durable barrier of magical rope to slow encroaching undead. A little about yourself: I work in a library. I do have a dog, recently been sick a bit. So if live sessions depending on length may require brief dog bathroom trips. I speak a bit of Japanese and used to live in Japan for a bit several years back. Your discord tag: If I am an interesting subject for you, please direct message me and I will share this. I dislike posting publically. Character ideas: Alchemist Artificer. Potential Warlock dip (occurs in backstory). Likely Human or Shifter depending. (combat note in spoiler). I think I'd like if they were an apothecary or alchemist shopkeep in the city prior. Would basically be adapting a character I've played in one shots at various levels trying different versions of them. Alternative is an Armourer Artificer. This one would not be intended as a primary tank and more apt to be a secondary tank. Bonus points if firearms exist so they'd always have a one handed range option to go with their punches.
How they would fight, would depend on how you feel about subbing out or adding a few spells to the class list. I.e. I'd wish that Produce Flame and Primal Savagery was on the list. As those are great for alchemical fluff. Produce flame being vials of alchemist flame you shake to glow and throw. PS being the classic 3.5/pathfinder liquid blade made of acid. This version would likely be mostly Alchemist w/ not much dipping, maybe a level or two. If not valid to have customization, then depending on party composition would likely look at either a Heavy Crossbow (or normal), or look at Mobile Feat and Green Flame Blade w/ eithe dagger/yklwa or get tavern brawler and hit them with vials of acid/oil, etc. (2 feats is expensive however). One major issue in general is that they don't get any of their lv 5 bonuses w/out actually holding their alchemical tools. So that limits some designs. So the Bow version would be less Int and likely to dip out after lv 3 a a bit.
As stated before, would depend on party compositions. Heavy on melee or heavy on range, etc.
Most fun would be adding a few choice cantrips to the spell list. Its pretty difficult to work around Alchemical Savant's highly restrictive set up.

My friend and I started a campaign 4 yrs ago when I was in college. I decided to play as myself in the game. Mashed a homebrew of chef from a fighter, ranger and monk class and made some broken class abilities for the game which he of course had to ok as Dm. But clear up to the point I killed Zongetsu by mistake it was a blast. Still have his stats written down.
I am a dad of three and married. I help run a restaurant and have two set days off which are Thursday and Fridays. I know you guys said Sundays, I open the monster up Sunday morning and normally home by 6 at night. I know probably had you guys all ready to sign me up till that was said. I am a pretty easy going person that has a great, I say BRILLIANT imagination, but others can says it is a bit crazy. I would like to be able to find a group to be able to play with, but the task is seeming more difficult than first thought. I appreciate the time from you guys.

Well to be honest I would like to try to remaster Chef Zongetsu and make him not so broken or at least rebuild him to a usable character, or an Artificer Dwarf, or a metal shredding Bard, Dragonborn Pyromancer Monk(monk/wizard), what about a Gorgon belly dancer. I just want something that I can just be myself and not have to truly think about his/her next few moves and they flow freely. Chances are they will be a chaotic good character.
Hi, I wanted to say beforehand I absolutely love your worldbuilding and description- thank you for being so open about sharing your world with us to apply to play in, it sounds like a really fun time!
Name: Jay
Age: 19
Pronouns: He/Him
Time Zone: I'm in the UK! (We'll have a daylight savings at the end of this month so I'm just putting my country for now :D)
Experience: DND 5E is the only iteration of the game I've played and I've been playing for roughly 3-4 years (I think?). I only have one experience as a DM however I have had countless experiences in campaigns as a player! I'd like to think I'm quite well-versed and know quite a bit about mechanics and things that I need to know as a player, however, I am always willing to learn and experience new things in the magical world of D&D :D
Favourite Memory: I once played a Tiefling Bard (cliché, I know) that had gotten himself involved with this flying blimp theatre troupe- completely accidentally, might I add. It was a troupe composed of purely Tieflings but they were all these bright rainbow colours, except for a red Tiefling, which I was playing. I was.. fully convinced I was in a cult situation as they weren't referring to my character by name, rather as "Red" and fully engrossing me in cult-like activities. The entire time as a player and as a character, I was calling out to my fellow group-mates for help.. turns out, it was just a highly superstitious acting troupe that wanted a red tiefling member to help out with decorating a set. I.. accidentally started a bit of a fight in my panic and, despite it being a tad violent, it's a highlight for me looking back at my *utter confusion* as to what was happening around me, lol!
A little about yourself: I'm an artist and twitch streamer primarily and I love all things dark, macabre and horror :D I have always loved roleplaying and the concept of D&D since a young age and I'm so happy I have the resources to play as an adult! I have a soft spot for Sci-Fi as my favourite genre besides horror, and I love all things beast races if you wanna know what I'd be interested in exploring as a character :D One of my favourite things about D&D is building friendships with not only my character, but with myself as a person with the other individuals in a campaign. Thank you so much for the opportunity!! I can't wait to hear back from you :)

Favorite memory from a dnd game: Being part of a four man party comprised of a 2 strength based martial class, a Cleric, and a Bard who all failed to open a somewhat heavy door (all rolled a nat 1 on athletics check and me being a str based fighter). Soloing an Ogre while the rest fought off an orc ambush.
A little about yourself: I am a normal guy who likes things be simple and straightforward. I obey rules even if its not that rational and I do prefer to spend all my free time either on my hobbies or sleeping. I am usually free on weekend's afternoons.
Favorite memory from a dnd game: just one? It's a bit long to put here, especially typing it out by phone.
A little about yourself: I first learned to play D&D on a combo of 1st and 2nd edition when I was a teen at a small hole in the wall of a game shop. After moving, did not really have a chance to play anymore, but got into 5e a few years ago and been playing since.
Your discord tag: Machinist#2338
Character ideas: several, but a few samples.
1.Fighter with an unusual heritage. Grew up a simple farmer but has dreams and aspirations of owning an 'exotic' animal ranch.
2.A "wizard" of the mad mix, with an unusual casting method and a some explosive hobbies.
3.A forgetful warlock that enjoy digging thru the past in hopes to recall some of his own memories.
Experience with dnd 5e: Nearly 17 years, been playing since I was 11.
Favorite memory from a dnd game: I've had a lot of moments that could be considered core memories for D&D, but honestly I fell in love with this game during my first session back in middle school with my friends. It was the first time my friend Jake had been a DM, and he put us up against a Bugbear and some sprites at lvl 1, came so close to a TPK on our first encounter. Good times. A more recent one though would be from a Halloween one shot I ran a couple years back, a horror themed venetian style carnival operated by the Puppetmaster, a carnie litch who crafted undead constructs from her victims to serve in the carnival, imagine my players' surprise when they realized she wasn't the BBEG.
A little about yourself: I'm a fairly easy going guy, I like to work just enough to pay my bills and earn a living and spend the rest of my time pursuing my hobbies, which include writing, video games, D&D, music, and chilling. I tend to be on the more creative side, preferring to come up with less straightforward character types and backgrounds, even if they aren't the most minmax-ish, as I enjoy the roleplay more than having the best character/skillset. I don't normally work on Sundays, but if I do I'd be home before 6:30pm. Fun fact: I just learned D&DBeyond had a forum, lol.
