The campaign will be based on Forgotten Realm canon and the Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter video game.
This is a new campaign for 6 Players. Currently we have 5 players and have run a session 0. After finding a suitable player we would like to begin the first official session 1 Wednesday Oct 26 at 7:00 PM. If we’re unable to find the right applicant by the start date, the group has decided we will push back starting as many Wednesdays as it takes to find the final right player.
This is an open-ended campaign which will be based out of Neverwinter beginning in the year 1479 DR. The campaign will be focused on the city to start, but the possibility to go all up and down the Sword Coast exists. This would be adventures from Icewind Dale to the Jungles of Chult. Although I will be trying to keep the story within the canon of the Forgotten Realms, this is Dungeons and Dragons, and the party will shape the world so at times canon will be overridden.
I’m an old Dungeon Master just learning to Navigate the VTT (Virtual Tabletop) world. The campaign is open to players of all experience levels. So far, the group consists of 3 experienced players, all of whom have DM experience. As well as 2 newer players, but those that are already showing a good attitude and desire to learn. The group would prefer the last person to be of similar background, so I am continuing to screen applicants.
Players are required to use/do the following:
Commit to one 4-hour session starting at 12:00 AM UTC Thursday’s. For North and South American people this is Wednesday evenings starting at 5:00 PM Pacific, 6:00 PM Mountain, 7:00 PM Central, 8:00 PM Eastern. If you can not commit to this time do not bother reading further.
Create an interesting character that will be starting at level 3. People will have the option to use Standard Array, Point Buy, or Role for stats. Hit points can be chosen separately as fixed or rolled. All rolls for character creation will need to be done and witnessed in Roll20 by myself.
We are sticking primarily to core rules for creation of characters. Additional options are available based on a discussion. No homebrewed overpowered classes.
Develop a loose background story that will allow for possible tie ins with the campaign story threads. I will work with you to create this and give you ideas, especially if your not familiar with the Forgotten Realms lore and or canon.
Build and play their character using D&D Beyond.
Use the Beyond20 application in Chrome or Firefox to link to Roll20.
Roll20 will be used as the VTT primarily for Maps and Tokens.
Use Discord as this will be the primary form for communication. We will be using discord for voice chat as well to share files, images, and have text chat discussions.
Have a working microphone and headset or a system which does not cause audio feedback while playing. Webcams are optional, I personally don’t plan to use mine.
Session Outlines:
Approximately 4-hour run time.
A brief 5-to-15-minute break will occur about halfway through each session.
If an individual player is unable to attend a session, we will still likely run. At times if multiple people can not make a session we will be postpone. As well occasionally and during holiday seasons a pause may occur for everyone the recharge their batteries. It will be up to the player to give a background story as to why their characters aren’t present if they miss a session. Occasional absenteeism is understandable with no hard feelings about it, life happens. However, players who give as much lead time as possible if they know a scheduling conflict is coming will be appreciated.
Players who consistently have attendance issues or cancel last minute on a regular basis will be removed from the campaign and new player or players will be added if the group wants. Again, no hard feelings but if you are not able to commit to the time please do not apply.
General Rules:
Be kind. This is an 18+ campaign and the possibility of people saying or doing offensive things is real. If you are sensitive and have triggers this is likely not the best fit for you.
Having said that purposefully offensive players who can not maintain a respectful level of behavior will be removed from the campaign. If you get kicked you will have done something to deserve it and likely have been given a chance to apologize and correct your behavior. The group will not put up with toxic players.
Thank you to all who apply. I will be conducting in person voice discussions with suitable applicants in discord.
If you made it to the end, congratulations. Please reply with a brief outline of you character ideas. If you just type a simple message like “I’d like to apply” you might not be a good fit for this campaign, and I will not respond to you. I put a bit of effort into this post, so I’m looking for similar people.
Suitable applicants can expect to receive a reply message sent from me in D&DBeyond with my Discord username, some more background information on me as a person, and a list of questions on the same things I will tell you about myself. Once you have read and thought about your answers, we can arrange a time to get together on discord and have a voice chat.
The accepted applicant will then be given an invite to the campaign Discord Server where the links to the D&D Beyond campaign, Roll20 game, etc. are located. And you can begin the process of creating your character, unless you already have one created that is acceptable.
I would like to play a Bladesinger wizard. A rough/short background is that he is a prodigy raised by his family. He has two siblings but they do not have the talent that he has. He was always pressured to be the best beacuse of his declining noble house. But in doing so, he was basically tortured since childhood. One day, before he was supposed to replace his father as the head of the family, the pressure was too much and he decided to flee all responsibility. Not without guilt, but everything was too much for him.
Hey there, I'm interested in joining the campaign.
Now I don't know what your party is made up of, but I do have at least one character idea.
Rin Date: Ex-Soldier. At one point in time, Rin served in the military with no issues. She followed orders to the letter, and her squadron boasted the highest success rate in her area. But little by little, her attitude started changing. Talking back to her superiors became commonplace, and so did disobeying orders. Any attempt to determine the cause of the change ended in someone being sent to the hospital. Eventually, it all came to a head when she physically lashed out at a superior officer on one particularly fierce day before deserting. Since then, she has wandered the lands, doing the odd job here and there to make ends meet, her eyes steeled on the horizon, her goal ever set in her mind as she continued on.

Something like that...
