I'm Kaizo (24/M/EST), and I'm looking to run a campaign based in a world of my own creation. I ran this same campaign about two years ago for some close personal friends and they thoroughly enjoyed it, to the tune of 12 weekly 4-hour sessions. It was really fun, but they "intentionally avoided the main story line just to see me scramble," so we never got very far in it and they eventually exhausted all of the side/improv content. I'm looking to stick a little closer to the main story line this time, but naturally if that isn't what happens then that's alright too. Going to look to shorten sessions to about 3 hours this time around, and ideally do bi-weekly to give me a little more time for planning. If the passion is there early on, though, I'm happy to do the first handful of them in back-to-back weeks.
The campaign is going to be RP-heavy (80% or so). The atmosphere is largely lighthearted and whimsical, but things will get a little more serious around particular plotlines or the main storyline. The setting is, again, a fantasy world of my creation. It is inspired by sprinklings of high fantasy fiction and some anime influence, but if you aren't an anime watcher, don't worry, you won't feel left out. The loose outline for the story is that the players awaken with all memories of their past life in a new body in a fantasy world, with no idea how or why they got there. Players will be gently encouraged to explore the world around them through the scope of fixing what's wrong with the landscape while simultaneously uncovering why they are there, and if it's possible for them to get home. The baseline for this campaign is 5e, but if you want to add something from another source (no homebrew but I'll look over external official sources like Xanathar's, Tasha's, etc) then I'll probably approve it on an individual basis. I just don't have a ton of experience with the other sources and don't want to jump into something I'm not ready for.
I'm looking for 4 players, and would like all the players to be adults (18+). No offense to you minors looking to get involved in the DnD world, I just don't feel comfortable with kids at my table. This is a setting that I've been working on absently for the past 5-6 years, and gradually been drawing inspiration for over that time. There's a lot of meat in this bad boy, and I'm excited to jump in. Probably planning to begin in the next two weeks or so. I'm largely available in the late afternoon into the early evening, so scheduling around me won't be a problem, but we'll probably end up picking a specific date every week to play. I will not run a session unless 3 of the 4 players are present. Don't feel like you have to be an expert at DnD, because if I'm honest with you I'm far from it myself. More than people who know what they're doing, I'm looking for people who are passionate about the game and want to immerse themselves in roleplaying their character in the world.
If this sounds like something that might interest you, I encourage you to reach out to me on Discord! My tag is Kaizo#2794. If you don't feel like typing it in, then you can click that little Discord icon at the top of your browser and it will take you to the DnD Beyond Discord server, where I'm a member and you can just search for my name. I'm saying this because I will NOT respond to messages/comments/followup posts here on the website. This is part of me casting a wide net and trying to get as many eyes on this post as possible. The campaign will be played through Discord and Roll20 anyway, so if you wanted to play you'd need to have a Discord account regardless.
Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Greetings, fellow DnD enjoyers.
