Experience: New / a few years / veteran Honestly, I will accept all stages of players as long as you are willing to learn.
Location/Timezone: Online through Discord and Above VTT through DnD Beyond! Central Time zone
Schedule: Wednesday every week from 7p.m. to 11 p.m. Time and date are set in stone. Sessions can go a bit later if there is a need.
Roles sought: One player currently. Going for a 5 character party with me playing a PC myself.
Greetings and hello. As the title states, I am currently seeking one new player for my current Wednesday group as we had a player drop recently for personal reasons. Sessions run weekly, going from 7 pm to 11 pm central times, with the rare session going over if the need is there. The party has just completed session #37 with a rough plan of this going to maybe 70 to 80 sessions (A rough ending time around April of 2023. The party is sitting at level 8 with the plan of them going to level 14 if everything goes well. I do plan on after this is completed, on running a new game afterwards, based on the new Dragonlance book plus some of the older Dragonlance work from the 90's. That game will be a 1 through 20 adventure that can last upwards of 2+ years. So as you can see, I am heavily invested in the games I run. I currently also run a Sunday game as well that just started but that one is filled.
The adventure is based loosely of the Icespire set, with me adding my own flair to much of it. I also do weave in players personal backstory as well into the game, which adds more fun to the overall game and helps the players be more involved, though anyone who is coming in now will have theirs added at a later time due to the ongoing events going on now. This game can be dark themed at times. I do not hold back when it comes to the story but there is certain lines that will not be crossed (We are all adults and know which things need to not be inside a game) but you can expect the unexpected.
As for the game, it is heavily based on the RP side. This can involve sessions of all RP between the party or the world. There has been many sessions where the full playing time was spent simply RPing between the characters, which is fine in my book as it adds to the feel of the game. I also use the time to listen, as things you say can be used in future adventures. A good example of this was a player of mine who spoke of his character doing one certain things and it warped itself into a 3 session cave fight/RP event that was tied into his backstory. Combat does happen at a respectable pace in my game, but as the party is level 8, do not expect the combats to be pushovers, enemies will use tactics against you, which makes combat more meaningful instead of a simple dice roll event.
But a little about me. I have played DnD since 1991, spending way to much time in the 2E rules set. I played a long term campaign that went on for 5 years before it finally ended and I took a massive break, recently coming back in 2020 to play 5E again and have enjoyed every second of it so far. I consider myself fair and reasonable as a GM. I will listen to any grief you might have and promise to make a fair ruling on it. I try to make the games as fun as possible, sometimes going off script to make something more fun for the players. I am also up front and honest, I will not yank your chain or whatnot.
As for what I am looking for, it is pretty simple. You have to be 18+ for starters, as some of the issues we deal with are more themed for adults. The game can get bloody or violent at times, so yes, 18+ for sure. Also, you need to have a bit of a thicker skin. We are all adults here, we like to have fun but know when it is time to get serious. Joking around at the table is going to happen. But as I stated above, there is certain lines that will not be crossed. Also, I do not care if you are a 10 foot tall alien from Mars, at the table we are all equal, no one is better than anyone else. But yes, getting back to what I am looking for, be at least 18+, older is nicer as we are all over the age of 30. As for you knowledge of the game, if you are newer, that is fine. We all started somewhere, as long as you are willing to learn. Attendance is taken every week. I simply expect you to show up to play, but real life happens, all I ask you is you need to miss, please try and get with me as soon as you can. Also, one huge thing that I will not put up with is a rules lawyer or the "Reminder Player". When I state "Reminder Player", this is the person who feels the need to always remind me or the other players about things in combat...AKA saves or what spells do or the like. Also a good working mic is going to be needed. If you cannot talk clearly or your mic is not the best/cuts out, simply do not apply. It simply slows down the game so if you mic breaks up or is not clear, simply pass this ad up.
Sorry for the long ad but I do have a habit of writing. I plan on adding someone by the 30th of November as this week is a holiday so not going to rush it. I will conduct interviews before then in Discord. Please fill out the following and either DM them to me on here or reply to this post. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Do you still have a spot open? I'd love to join Age 31 male with 10-20 sessions under my belt. Would love to commit to a year+ of weekly sessions.
Name: Mike
Playing exp: ~year, 10-20 sessions
Who are you thinking of playing: Fighter/tank. But I will probably just fill a roll if needed ( more exposure to other classes)
Small backstory if ya can (I do not mind if you write a lot as you can see from above!): Proven over the years of hard combat, I could finally return home. Yet it has been so long, I cannot put my finger on the exact location, until 1 day I find it....destroyed. I have been wandering now for years looking for.....them. Yet who they are I cannot exactly remember...
Age: 31
Most fun you ever had playing DnD: One-shot Christmas dragon slaying
Random interesting fact: can light a fire in the pouring rain.
Although now I am rethinking on if you wanted a character backstory idea or MY backstory LOL. Hope to hear from you.
Who are you thinking of playing: I have not fully decided. Perhaps some sort of tiefling... though I've had an idea for a character who is tied to an item (ring, chain, book, w.e) and gets summoned by another pc. Sort of a genie vibe without being able to grant wishes other than "protect me" or "fight along side me".
Small backstory if ya can (I do not mind if you write a lot as you can see from above!): I usually write a backstory almost immediately as soon as I hear more about the campaign. So if we can discuss a little more, im sure the wheels will start grinding and ill have some ideas to throw your way real quick.
Age: 30
Most fun you ever had playing DnD: This is tough. Over the years I've played with some fantastic groups and have had some great times so ill just mention something more recently.
I joined an ongoing campaign with 3 other pcs and the dm. We clicked right off the bat and my first mission with them was to enter a cave and basically kill anything inside and see if there were any survivors from a town nearby. I believe it was goblins and orcs that terrorized these people.. Well, we came up with this great and simple plan to start a fire near the front of the cave, then start a ruckus to get them all to run out and we'd jump them there.... we were determined. We entered the cave and promptly all started yelling. No one set the fire. When we realized that our most crucial part of the plan had not been done, we were all in tears laughing. Thus our gang became known as the Firestarters. It became a thing that we've never been able to properly start a fire and it was also such a great way to bond as a new group.
Random interesting fact: I love the dramatic plot points dms come up with. Even if my own characters die for it... >:D I'm there for it
Playing exp: 3.5e 2008-2012, 4e 2013-2018 (DM), 5e 2022
Who are you thinking of playing: I have a few different options, but out of my existing characters Tabaxi Sorcerer is currently closest to your level.
Small backstory if ya can (I do not mind if you write a lot as you can see from above!): It obviously depends on the character because each is different; using the Sorcerer as an example, her wealthy family disowned her when her draconic heritage began to manifest.
Age:36
Most fun you ever had playing DnD: It was a Pathfinder one-shot inbetween 4e games, but I played a Skald (Bard-barian), and we were supposed to investigate this warehouse that was this front for a criminal organization. I knock on the front door and pose as an interested buyer of their illicit goods and pretty convincingly got a good amount of information out of them with them being none the wiser. After the session, the DM told me that because I kept rolling good and they kept rolling low, I essentially BSed my way through what was intended to be a combat-heavy dungeon crawl raid. We got full XP for it.
Random interesting fact: According to Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon rules, in his lifetime the late Sir Christopher Lee could be connected to any other performer in two steps or less.
Playing exp: 1 year of PF1e (many small campaigns), 7 years of D&D 5E (5 of those years were DMing a 1-20 campaign for a group of 5)
Who are you thinking of playing: I am very flexible in what I am willing to play, as well as backstory. I have several back pocket characters that I am happy to adjust to suit the campaign:
Whispers: A kenku shadow sorceror.
Gordat Loun: A hobgoblin drunken master monk.
Bror: A firbolg spores druid
Small backstory if ya can (I do not mind if you write a lot as you can see from above
Here's a brief background for each of the above characters. I also write way too much.
A street urchin from Waterdeep, Whispers was all too familiar with the violence and desperation of those the city prefers to ignore. While running one of the many odd-jobs he performed to survive, he was caught in an alley, stabbed, and left for dead. He remembers a colorless, desolate wasteland, where shadows seemed to move of their own accord. A flurry of shapeless shadowy forms emerged from behind a hill and enveloped him. Countless whispers roared around him, drawing closer and closer until he was consumed by darkness. He awoke on the back of a corpse wagon in the city cemetery. From the moment he stumbled away from the confused grave keeper, he could hear strange whispers in moments of silence and see dark shapes flicker at the edge of his vision. Strange powers manifested in him and, over time, he learned to use them to his advantage, finding success with whatever adventuring parties didn't find him too unnerving.
Gordat Loun knows the value of a good story. Weave a good enough tale and you can get anyone on your side. The son of a respected grand master martial artist, Loun was far too much of a carousing charlatan for his parents to bear, but his outlandish stories always won his mother over. Year after year, his antics brought shame to his family. When he reached the precipice of adulthood, he was given an ultimatum: fall in line or leave. So he left. Who needs family when everyone's your friend? He spent the early years of his life collecting tales and friends from behind the bar of The Golden Dragon, a popular bar (and illegal gambling den), until one of his showboating bartending performances burned the place to the ground. Loun was run out of town and eventually wove his martial prowess and showmanship into a successful adventuring career.
First to rise and last to bed, Bror was a fine, upstanding member of his tribe. That was, until a foraging trip where he came across the most unusual fungal growth, pulsing with unnatural fluorescent colors. When he tried to collect a sample, the growth burst in his face. In the following weeks, his skin began to change color and he began hallucinating, hearing voices and having strange visions. Terrified that it might spread, the elders agreed and Bror was asked to leave for the good of the tribe. Ever dutiful, he packed his things and promised to never return. Over time he learned his condition was not a disease, but that he was host to a sentient fungal colony that now shared his body and, to some extent, his mind. To find a place in the world, Bror turned to adventuring and exploring what he and his new friends could do.

Most fun you ever had playing DnD: Running my 5-year-long, completely bonkers campaign for my close friends. Random highlights include going toe-to-toe with Actual Cannibal Shia LeBeouf, befriending a rogue fire elemental to power their airship and naming him Guy Fiery, and the final battle against an impossibly huge, timeless space kraken whose lair action altered a core rule of D&D for 1 round (like using a deck of cards instead of dice).
Random interesting fact: I live in one of the states where D&D was invented.
Very interesting replies so far! Will start to message people this Friday! If anyone who has replied or is thinking of replying, please feel free to message me any questions about the game and I will get back with you! As I stated before, this is for a long term adventure that you should get roughly 40ish sessions from if not more with the next one going long term as well!
Wishing all a happy Thanksgiving! Reminder that I have not forgotten about anyone and will get with players after Thanksgiving as I am swamped during this time!
Playing exp: played a little 3.5 at the end of its lifespan, started DMing 5e during the pandemic and have an ongoing game with friends. Played in a few other friends' games but everyone's campaign is on hold.
Who are you thinking of playing: Lightfoot halfling lore bard.
Small backstory if ya can (I do not mind if you write a lot as you can see from above!): Liam Sacurlanza was found by a troupe of traveling performers. He grew up learning the stories of heroes of old, watching them being retold on stage. Now he seeks adventures of his own, hoping to witness stories worth retelling in song and poetry.

Most fun you ever had playing DnD: Our druid was wildshaped into a gorilla and was atop a parapet. She wanted to climb down and move closer to her target and throw a rock, but climbing down would not give her enough movement remaining to get in range. So I offered her a chance, if she did a long jump from the edge, she would instead use her movement to go forward (gravity would take care of down), BUT would have to succeed on a Dex save otherwise take she'd a little damage and fall prone. She made the save, and I gave her advantage on the attack because it was just a cool moment. And then I just them all "Tell me what you want to do, and if it's reasonable, I'll find a way to make it possible."
Hello, I would love to get in on this. I've played off and on over the years, but the groups usually fizzle out. I'm looking for a group/campaign I can feel passionate about.
About me: I'm 41 years old. I have lots of rpg experience, mostly video games, but I pick up on mechanics quickly. I am pretty creative once my shy shell is broken. I would love to play a bard or an artificer would be even better, as I like unorthodox characters. I've never played online like this and would like to give it a shot.
Have had a couple responses to my PM's but would love to talk to other players as well. If interested, give my post a read over and shoot me a PM. Hope to hear from more people soon. Looking to start someone by Dec 7th as this weeks session would be to soon.
Have a few people to speak with but still have an open spot if you are interested. Simply use the semi-form I posted in the first post and either PM me it or reply here! Thanks!
Playing exp: I have played a variety of rpgs. Just finished a year+ 5e campaign and looking for another.
Who are you thinking of playing: I can make any concept work. Lately, I've been itching to play a monk rogue.
Small backstory if ya can (I do not mind if you write a lot as you can see from above!): Bestivue Whispers was tasked with tracking and returning the Idol of the Third Eye. Stolen by an experienced band of adventurers, the relic is central to Best's master's Soul Walks across the ethereal plane. The trail recently went cold, and Best is expanding his social connections, hoping to pick up the scent again.
Age: 54
Most fun you ever had playing DnD: Forced into a fight we could not win by a paladin who could not leave well-enough alone, Thorgrok the Dwarf had to hold back a dozen vampire warriors long enough for the rescue of several groups of innocents from a gladiator pit. Creative use of feats, items and tactics allowed him to pull off the impossible. While we RPed the heck out of that moment, we also had to think outside the box to make it all come together.
Random interesting fact: I have a knack for learning musical instruments. However, the three I play the most are bass, piano and trumpet.

PM's sent to all those who applied! Will do interviews as soon as possible.

Hello there! I am looking for my first campaign. I'm a ranger Aarakocra with a flying snake.
