Hey, I am a brand new DM, and this will be my first time running a session. We have a small group of players looking to run a Curse of Strahd campaign starting with the Death house. If interested feel free to send me a message or reply to this thread. We will be playing Saturday at 7 pm CST.
Curse of Strahd is a gritty, dark, realism campaign that has many twists and turn. Things aren't always what they seem and not everyone you meet is going to be on your side. Strahd has taken over Barvoia and it is your job as the players to figure out what you must do. Will you join him, and conquer this new land, or will you rise against him, and free this land from his tyranny? This campaign is yours, I am just your guide, if you need one. The enemies you may face are many, with very unique and formidable talents and abilities. Will you fall, or will you dominate? I hope you are ready to deal with every hardship you can think of and face The Dangers of Barovia.
Experience: I have been playing D&D - alongside other TTRPGs such as Pathfinder, Cyberpunk, and Starfinder - for 5 years. I have played as both a player and a DM, having DM'd multiple campaigns and one-shots.
How did you find D&D?: I was brought into the game by a friend, like many others.
What are you looking for in a campaign?: I am looking for a decent amount of focus on characters - specifically, their personal motivations, struggles, and relationships with one another. Beyond that, I'm very open to anything and everything!
Experience: I started playing my first campaign a few weeks ago though I'm experienced in text roleplaying and story building and creation, I love fiction and reading and have done discord text freefrom roleplay extensively before. hoping to get more experience in dnd!
How did you find D&D?: I've always known about DnD and was interested but didn't have anything to pull me to actually try it, I've recently decided to after watching a dnd show from Highrollers called Aerois, and i've loved the roleplay in that and wanted to experience it myself. I've also hated the freeform chaotic nature of no-system roleplay with unfair rulings and thats another reason that pulled me to try.
What are you looking for in a campaign?: I love roleplay and character interaction, but I also love using creativity and ingenuity to solve problems or quests, I love inventory sorting so I'd be real happy with an encumbrance system but understand if others dislike it, but i like collecting and hoarding mundane items to try and use them in interesting ways, I love artificers for that reason with how utility and support based they are and am currently playing an Artificer in my other campaign.
Preferred Name and Pronouns: Roxanne (or Salami, most online friends call me that), She/Her
Experience: Started in my first campaign a year ago, and it was also Curse of Strahd. However, the DM ended up not loving the setting and rushing us through (none of us opposed) to bring our PCs to Exandria for a Homebrew Campaign. We played weekly, starting mid-February, up until early October. We then took a break and played a short 4-shot campaign ran by a different DM while our main DM prepped for her campaign. Other than that, I've been playing in a 8-9 session mini-campaign that's coming to a close soon, in a Homebrew world, ran by a DM I met in a Youtuber's discord.
How did you find D&D?: When I was a kid (way back in the late 90's, early 2000's) there was D&D in my city's "Sports and Activities" community booklet that I always tried to join, but they never had room for me (either no room for players or, as I hate to think about, no room for a girl). MUCH later on, in late 2021, I started binging Critical Role, and discovered an online friend of mine was also a fan, and her and other friends were all playing D&D. So that's how I joined my 1st campaign. Lately, I've been binging Dimension20, and I watched the 3 Roll20 "Chaos D&D", where the recurring themes are Aabria as DM, and Brennan as Citizen Doctor Abraham Mehermblur.
What are you looking for in a campaign?: While the 1st campaign I played in was also Strahd, I'm looking for a different experience this time, since I don't want to play the same Death Cleric. I tend to... over-tune my characters, and I like to optimize their damage, but I want to try and focus a lot more on RP, because I feel like I have a really good handle on combat, and I want to find a group to enjoy RP-ing with. Since I've played Curse already, I am fully willing to make a PC with more of a follower personality rather than a leader, because I REALLY don't want to accidentally Meta-game. Also, I don't think I could ever play in a "play-by-post" way...
Preferred Name and Pronouns: Jay, They/Them or He/Him
Experience: I've played D&D consistently as a player for about a year and a half now but played it on and off for about 2 years before that.
How did you find DnD?: A family member used to play it when I was younger and as I was growing up a lot of my friends started playing it and I got interested in it and now I really enjoy playing it
What are you looking for in a campaign?: All I really look for in a game is a place for friends and strangers to come together roll some dice have some fun and learn about each others characters as we play
