Due to some of my players not being a good fit for the group, and a couple that have gotten new jobs that don't work with our group schedule, I am down from a 6 player group to 3 players. I would like to add 2 more players (max, as when we have 5 players or less things actually seem to work better).
Group currently consists of a Longtooth Shifter Wolf Totem Barbarian, a Halfling Draconic Sorcerer/Celestial Warlock, and a Homebrew race called a Vulpes (which is really a variant shifter subrace but with some differences) Ranger/Bard. They are currently level 3 about to hit 4th level.
Now if this sounds like a group you are interested in joining please be aware of the following requirements that I have set forth.
1. Games are on Wednesday nights, starting @ 7pm Eastern Standard Time, and will run until 10pm Eastern Standard Time.
2. You will need to have a working microphone/headset and a webcam as this is a livestreamed game and your face and voice will appear on the stream.
3. You must be 18 years old or older as this is an ADULT game. i.e. swear words will come out now and again, and there will be topics such as sex, drugs, violence, etc that can come up during the game.
4. You will need to have accounts on, and be willing to download certain apps/programs onto your computer, that we use during gameplay.
a) Roll20.net
b) D&D Beyond
c) VSee (it is the video conferencing app/program that we use)
d) Discord.
e) Not required, but encouraged...a Twitch account.
5. This campaign the characters are currently level 3, soon to be 4, and the plan is to go all the way to 20th level. The campaign is focused on having lots of roleplay, but there is also definitely going to be combat. Depending on the direction(s) that the party chooses to go, you can expect approximately 1 combat encounter per game (sometimes a tiny bit less). Note, as this is a roleplay focused campaign, we have had at times a couple sessions in a row with zero combat, but again, we average approximately 1 combat encounter per game. So if you are the type of player that ONLY wants combat/dungeon crawl type of game, this is probably not the game for you.
6. I do NOT allow any evil PCs in games in which I have players that I don't know very well, and/or haven't played with on many many occasions.
7. This is a COOPERATIVE game. If your character is a total Lone Wolf and/or Edge Lord, I will allow it, but if that is the case, YOU MUST as a player, be mature enough and creative enough to come up with your own reasons why YOUR CHARACTER wants to stick with the party. I am willing to work with players to give them the ability to play the type of character that they want (again NO EVIL PCs), as long as they understand it is NOT my responsibility to keep their Character with the group, it is YOUR responsibility to do so. I don't care if your character doesn't 100% get along with, or 100% trust the other party members, but YOU need to come up with reason(s) why they choose to stay with the party and to choose helping the party overcome challenges. I bring all of this up, because one of the PCs in the group I allowed to be more Edge Lord-like and it has really made things difficult and much much more work for me to keep the group together, and after working with the player we are retiring that Character and the player has made a new one that is much more group friendly. I do NOT want to go through that again.
8. If you would like in this game, it is also imperative that you are able to commit to our game night of Wednesdays @ 7pm EST, and make all best effort to be there for each game. I typically call everyone on our conference call app/software (VSee) about 15 minutes before the game in order to ensure everything is setup properly and everyone can be seen and heard. If for some reason you cannot make it to a game night, please let me know about it as soon as possible. I love having at least a week notice if possible, but I do understand that emergencies come up, so please just try your best to give me as much advance notice as possible.
9. This is a Livestreamed game on Twitch, however, I do travel quite a bit for work, and have found out the hard way that my laptop is no where near powerful enough to handle running all the windows/programs/etc I need to stream. Therefore, while I am out of town, we won't be Livestreaming the games, but we will still be playing. One of the other group members does (when she's able) record those non-livestreamed game sessions, so that we can upload those to our YouTube channel a few days after the game. My hope is that one day my either my work travel schedule calms down a bit, or that I am able to afford a top-end laptop (gotta save up for that), so that I will be able to stream the games more consistently.
10. We are a small stream and have not hit Affiliate level on Twitch yet. That being said, if you do end up joining this group we ask that if you can spread the word you please do so. Ask your friends/family/etc to watch and if they have Twitch accounts ask them to give our Twitch channel a follow.. We also ask that you consider getting a free Twitch account (if you don't already have a Twitch account) and follow our Twitch channel to up our follower count. We do hope that one day our livestream games can become popular enough that we hit Affiliate level on Twitch and possibly even bring in some money to cover the subscription fees and other expenses we need to play our game. We also, if we get to that level, hope to someday bring in enough money to be able to get all of our group members higher end equipment (microphones, headphones, lighting, computers, etc) so that we can improve the production value of the stream.
11. If you don't know what Critical Role is check them out on YouTube or Twitch. The reason I bring that up is because......WE ARE NOT Critical Role. While I do think I am a pretty darn good DM (and my players have told me as much) I am NOT Matt Mercer (DM for Critical Role). I do however, try my best to provide a fun experience for my players, and I am willing to listen to feedback from players to improve the game. I always am looking to improve my skills as a DM.
12. Lastly, if you have any questions for me about the campaign, about the livestream, or about anything discussed in this thread, please ask and I will do my best to answer.
Anyway, message me if you are interested in joining our game.
Thanks to everyone who showed interest in the game and submitted themselves for the spots.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to accommodate everyone who showed interest as we only had a few slots available, and we have now filled them.
Again thank you to all who messaged me about the game, I love to see that there are so many people who are passionate about D&D and want to get involved.
If you missed out on your chance to join our group I'm sorry, but hopefully you will find a good group that works for you.
Anybody that didn't get in, or for anybody that just wants to follow along with our adventures, you can watch us on our Twitch Channel: https://www.twitch.tv/jplay36
