Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online, either over Discord or Zoom Experience: A few years, but it's been a bit Location/Timezone: EDT Availability: Thursday evenings, Friday - Sunday all day Preferred role: Player Game style: A good balance between combat, roleplay, character/worldbuilding, but like to emphasize the development of relationships between characters
I have a character I really want to ride out and see where it could go. Depending on starting premise and level, things could be tweaked but this would be her general backstory:
As a baby, Aldonza was stolen away from her home by a band of thieves. The band was filled with almost 100 rogues, criminals, petty thieves, etc. of different races and backgrounds. The only life Aldonza has ever known was the gang. All of the members became family to her, especially the leader of the group, Dietrich, and growing up she was taught all she knew about how to steal. Dietrich became her ultimate mentor and on the day of her initiation into the band, it was he who gifted Aldonza her most prized possessions: A beautiful longsword and a name, Bloodspear. Dietrich gave her the name as a symbol of her tenacity, and the weapon as a symbol of her growth and fellowship in the band. She became a jack of all trades, no master of one in particular, as each member demonstrated their skills to her to teach her the ways of survival and the trade. She and the group had gone on several raids and adventures, acquiring treasures beyond imagination, but the band did not care for the value of the items. Instead, they cared more that they were together and they could all survive and thrive.
One day, as Aldonza was entering young adulthood, the band's camp was invaded. One by one, she watched friends and loved ones die at the hands of cloaked figures. She saw a figure slash into Dietrich, grievously wounding him. Aldonza was able to pull Dietrich, the only father figure she has ever known, away from the battlefield and hide in the shadows. With Dietrich's dying breaths, he handed her a ring, one inlaid with gold and sitting a ruby atop it. Dietrich whispered, "Aldonza, my girl, it is time you learn your true destiny. You may no longer stay here. It was the fate of myself and the others to find and protect you until this day. Our mission is done, you must leave this place now. The ring holds the truth about your past, present, and future. Do not look back or return to the fray. Be not afraid of the journey ahead. Be cunning, be clever, be careful." With those last words, he died in her arms. Aldonza, always loyal to Dietrich, obeyed his orders and fled the fray and into the night, fighting back tears, feeling the destruction of her only family was all her fault due to her unknown past. Her goal is to discover the truth of her past, her identity, and her ultimate destiny, as well as find the purpose of the ring she now possesses.
