Hello nerds,
I'm going to run a homebrew one-shot set in a world of my own creation to essentially test out the beginning of my plans for a future full campaign. I'm new to dming and this is intended to be a fun, but engaging session which will include both RP and Combat. I love to world build, as well as character build so building your PC will be a fun part of this and i will always tailor them to the world and love ideas for backstory to play with. I'm a laidback guy who's looking to make this a fun experience over anything else, chemistry between everyone and a good time is my ultimate goal here.
Brief World Overview:
The world you know is one of harsh standards. The Western Orcs have ceased their raids for the better part of 40 years since the treaty of salt was brokered and remain fractured as a result of the doctrine. The church wields ultimate power in the mainland, branding all who defy their methods, teachings or instruction.. as heretics. Interlopers to the Great Garden. The settlements surrounding the mainland remain passive under the harsh reign of the faith, with paganism existing further from the source of the church in the outer lying lands. The stark sands of the north exist as a punishing place of exile for many who shun the teachings of the current ruling power and provides a place of fraudulent safety for many labelled "pagans" to reside among the rule of corrupt barony. And the now neutral Orc Clan in control of the southern salt mines engage in slavery and imprisonment under the nose of an otherwise disinterested aristocracy.
But a storm summons, a world heated with tension resides on the thin ice that disguises itself as balance. Reported Orc sightings among the seas stir fear, the tightening church fists among the necks of the people breed dissent and the land you know is on the brink of change, for better. Or perhaps.. for worse.
The game begins:
You awaken aboard a ship, encaged with several others. Members of the party & NPCs included. Where you are, who you are and what is happening is up to you as players to discover. But time is of the essence and your decisions made will be pivotal in your, escape. or Demise.

Anything you wish to share about yourself! it doesn't have to be DnD related just id love the party to have good chemistry and get along well so why not start here :)

I intend to use Dnd Beyond for rolling and Roll 20 for any combat encounters. Also i am GMT and would prefer to play in a timezone similar to this but this is open to changes.

What interests you so far on the above and why?: For one, I love homebrew campaigns! I love seeing new plotlines too :). I also enjoy seafaring parts of dnd, especially for roleplay (which is one of my favorite parts of dnd!).
I've been playing for 3 years now, but unfortunately I haven't had the chance to join many campaigns. I hope that I can change that soon! :)
This one shot sounds very interesting. I'm returning to the game after decades of abstinence brought on by the bonds of real life. Back then I was DM for years and used a great deal of what is now called homebrew -- apt label, that.

Campaign appeal: Sounds like a great hook and many hours of development have been spent. As for my motives, a one-shot would be a great reintroduction to the game after all this time --- a lot has changed since the first edition!

I'd kill to join this oneshot, and eventually explore the world then dive deeper into any of the mysteries in it.
