Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online / Roll20 for weekly sessions + play-by-post between sessions (written word only; no voice). We also use Discord for OOC communications. Experience: Some D&D experience required (existing players are veteran) Location/Timezone: GM is in Lisbon, Portugal (GMT+0) with some players in U.S. CST (GMT-6) Schedule: Weekly on Sundays; evening for players in GMT (ie, 6-9pm), midday for those in U.S. CT (ie, 12-3pm) Roles sought: Players; we have room for 2-3 more. Game style: We play games heavy on story and character development, hence the preference for the written format. Slow advancement, not for power gamers. We play long-term campaigns with a storyline driven and defined by the actions of the PCs in reaction to their world. We are looking for players who enjoy writing descriptively about their characters, in both combat and non-combat settings; for example, even during a Roll20 battle, beyond just rolling dice, it is expected that actions be described. Other info: Three of us have been playing together for many years, primarily various versions of D&D but other systems as well along the way. Our longest campaign ran for 13 years. The DM has been GMing for some ~30 years.
If you are interested, post or PM me. Please include info about yourself, including age and location.
Hi, I'd be interested in joining, I've been playing for two years so far, so if you still have a slot open, I'd be interested, I'm 16, I'm free on weekends past 4pm GMT+1 but can make other days work and I'd like to play either a warlock rogue, artificier hunter or sorcerer bard, my discord is Cjex #3978, txt me if you still have a slot open.
Heya if youre still looking for players Im interested. Im a pretty experienced player, been a little since my last campaign ended but looking to get into another one, hopefully long term again. My discord is Aria#7404 if thats better to chat there :)
Heyo, I'm interested in playing with you guys I've played a D&D campaign before so still newish but I do understand the basics of the game. From CST, My Discord is "Itz Wiz#5305"
Any more room? I haven’t played in a long time, since the 3.5 years. I haven’t played online either but have started learning roll20 and just haven't found a good group to play with. I would to join you!
Thank you all for the interest shown. For the moment we have enough players, but we will consider opening up another space for someone who seems like the perfect fit. A couple additional points:
We are all aged 40+ and prefer other "mature" players, but an absolutely bare minimum is 21+.
We look for players with an affinity for the written word. You don't need to be Shakespeare, but lots of typos/misspellings (and the use of "ur" instead of "your," etc - remember, we're old!) are indicators that we're probably not really compatible.
As a reminder, if you are interested, I request that you tell me about yourself to help me get a feel for you as a player. We've been doing this for many years and are fairly selective -- for everyone's sake! -- to create optimum chemistry in the group, especially since this is for the long haul.
Well, you sound like my kind of group. I’m 36, have a family and I’m still active duty military. Hopefully, I’ll retire soon because I hit my 20 years in 14 months but I’ll probably stay in for 3-4 more years at least! So, yes I have a life and demanding job but I would love to play on the weekends and if something comes up, I would be more than willing to let you know. I’m also fine with the DM using my player in my absence (just please don’t kill him off, hahaha). It’s been a long time since I was face to face with other DND players so of course I am rusty, you just as well can consider me new. I will have to relearn stuff and look more into the 5 since I haven’t played since 3.5. I also really want to try roll20 so I can open my horizons up to playing online rather than just in person! If you would have me as part of your next group, just DM me! Thanks!

Availability: Monday through Sunday 11:30pm - 5:00am. Could POSSIBLY make something work in the early hours that would need to be wrapped up by 12:00pm.
Hobbies and interests: Aside from work and training, I'm usually pretty lazy and a gamer. It helps to get away from the world and have fun.
Experience in DnD: My experience with DnD is limited, not exactly new. But RP experience is up there. Not too heavy on voice acting though some silliness and tweaks work. I started out with Forum play by post style and then turn based chat RP.
Discord: PipVII #2172
Personal strengths and weaknesses for dnd: I am an AVID fan of team work. Noone should feel left out or behind, but I get that everyone has their own, "People," limit. My weakness... I am NOT tech savvy so I'd probably accept an abundance of help and understanding when dealing with VTT if that is being utilized.
What are you looking for in the game: I'm looking for something fun, obviously, and would really prefer long term so the characters can be fully played and developed. Back stories are a spectacular. Slice of life is imperative in my opinion to allow the world to feel lived in, and the characters alive! But we all know the main draw is combat or using the skills we've worked so hard to gain with our characters!
What type of tone or vibe do you like for DMs to follow in games? : By all means, guide us, join in with an NPC if you feel like. I've known some that like to get involved with a literal roulette wheel to see who we meet in a town for them to get involved with and guide players along. I've also had some that are just along for the ride and genuinely enjoy just setting the stage. If the actors haven't rehersed their lines that's no fault of the set/prop designer, you know?
What types of players do you like and dislike to play a game with: It takes all sorts to make the world, so too rings true at the table. Things CAN get over done and tropish. But I feel if people are confident in their characters and stick true to the design wonderful stories can be told. It's best to keep open minds. That said, above table I do not have time for or tolerate blatant ignorance or hatred.
Character(s) Information: I have five characters in mind at current that could be thrown together with what would fit well with party and setting.
1. The Human Fighter/Warlock - A retired guard/peace keeper that gets drawn back into the life; There's more that would be worked on with the DM.
2. The Human Barbarian/Fighter - An old man looking for an honorable death that's evaded him into old age, much to his disappointment and shame.
3. The Human Warlock/Sorcerer - A physically damaged man looking to scrape by, and eventually take revenge. This one would require a bit of insight and work with the DM to see if certain aspects are acceptable/okay with their world.
4. The Teifling Rogue/Warlock - He's care free and chaotic, always down for an adventure. Fancies himself the Robin Hood type. He's got a soft spot for outcasts and orphans. Complete-ish... With his own Maid Marian.
5. The Changeling Rogue/Wizard - He is a bit to work with. Would prefer to play these cards close to the chest and work with the DM on a few things in regards to his back story/plot uses. He doesn't go by TB for nothing.
Looking forward to making some friends and sharing adventures!

Hi Phil! Please note in my initial post above that for now our session time is ~12-3pm central time. It doesn't sound like our schedules are compatible.
I'd be interested in joining. I used to play back in the day (bought the original boxed set back in 1974) but haven't played in 35 years and want to start up again as retirement nears. I have read 5e carefully and am playing a pay game on discord, but want to get in with a good group where I can get to know people, etc. I'm a professor, so writing things is kinda my thing...:)
I'm a bit late but I been meaning to try to play a long running campaign. I am probably going to play a character that I kind of always wanted to play in a long running campaign
Here is an example backstory for him I created for a now canceled one-shot
Short Backstory: From the Fae Wilds, from his adolescence to his teen years a adventuring traveler has made a habit to come visit this person and recite his story from his journal. While he never said when he'll come back, nor did he has a pattern. Kai always knew when to wait outside excited to hear his new stories about his adventures. One day, after finishing telling Kai a story of his, he gave his journal and told Kai to keep it safe for him and give it back to him one day. It's been some time after his last visit to the point where Kai knew all about his adventures from the twists, tragedy's and action as he could not stop rereading the journal. Kai decided to stop waiting around and come to him instead, this time he will add his own story into the book and read it out to him just like he did when Kai was younger. He searched for some time now while inputting his own little stories during the search but with no luck. So the only place he can be is up North! Which is why he is adventuring to the dragon maw in hopes to meet him again as well as have some cool adventure story to tell
lmk if you'll like to have me apart of the group but regardless hope you have a good time
