I am about to be 29, Havent played dnd since 3.5e which was about 20 years ago (Jesus...)
Im looking to get back into it but cant find any local groups around phoenix az...
i dont really know how playing online works to be honest so i would really like for someone to maybe explain how this works and what all i need to be a contributing member of a party and not someone who has to be walked through the game each time my turn rolls around.
also what materials would i need to purchase to be able to play online with a group.
My favorite class to play is usually a good ol' wood elf ranger :)
but the new warlock class changes look very fun to try out >:)
thank you guys for your time and help, i have been researching this for weeks now and still not really finding any way to actually play.
I was intimidated by playing online myself, but covid made it necessary to run my games that way, so I tried it out for the first time about 3 years ago. It's actually pretty cool and does not require you to be super tech savvy. You just have to blunder into it. There are also lots of people running free games on there that are tagged as beginner friendly, so I'd say let youtube, and the very welcoming community be your friend and go for it!
I am still a new player. I have never played - ever. I am also younger... like grade school. I would like to find someone who can help me with all the new stuff. I am open to groups or players. (I think?) I honestly don't know what I'm doing - but I know that I need help!

Hi Jaybird,
I would suggest you get a free account on Roll20: https://www.roll20.net
Then hit up youtube for "Roll20 player tutorials"
