Game: D&D Group preferred: Online Experience: New (I have experience in the setting through the D&D based video games, but no tabletop experience of any kind) Location/Timezone: ET (UTC -4) Availability: Available Week nights and during the day on the weekend Preferred role: Player Game style: I've always wanted to try D&D but I could never convince my friends to give the time and energy towards learning it, so I'm reaching out. I'll need some advice on what to read and how to prepare, but I'm not afraid to do the work to learn the game. I'm in my 30s and a pretty tolerant and adaptable person, but I'd prefer if the age of the group would be 21+.
Hello there! I have couple of pay to play campaigns starting soon that will be a long running campaign spanning 3+ modules edited to fit your characters levels if you’re interested in joining up here’s the link for the games, I welcome new and veteran players of D&D:
I'd suggest starting with some of the resources on this site to learn the game. As far as A game, I have one that I'm trying to find players for, but (or perhaps and) it will be run play-by-post only on the PbP board here ... at leqast at first. I've played D&D and then other roleplaying games for many years, came back and learned fifth editon D&D from this site and a small in person playgroup; but that group fell apart just as I was ready to try DMing again, and because I am on the autism spectrum live social interaction sites like discord are difficult environments for me and I'm basically trying it out on the forums first where that's not a factor. Essentially its the same thing but a lot slower and doesn't require ppl to be online at any particular time. Essentially when playing in person you describe what your character's doing and the DM describes everything else that's happening by talking face to face, forums you just do the same thing by posting like this.
and the basic rules: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules, which essentially give all the functional stuff you need to play but are pared down when it comes to the full spectrum of possible charactrer subclasses etc etc etc. Those can be found in in Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide and a couple books of monsters which constitue the full core game and have tons of sourcebooks and material that can be added on. Basic rules are given out by WOTC free; the rest you have to pay for, but if you're playing on this site with a DM who has them, s/h/the(y) can enable content sharing so all their players can use the books they have without having to own themselves. I've got all the basics in my game, plus three or four full books of the supplements and some individual content I've bought from a few others. If you do want to check it out, I have a recruiting thread at https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/looking-for-players-groups/172533-what-lies-beneath-cricket-tor-experienced-dm
