So I've been looking at assembling a DND group and I have some possible players, but I'm still having some difficulty finding a DM. My efforts to recruit one on Roll20 have so far been unsuccessful so I thought I'd maybe try here.
We're open to whatever DM styles are available, but my group is leaning towards a game that is more oriented toward story than combat. There has been some interest expressed in a game centered around mythology, or perhaps adopting outside of the usual Medieval Aesthetic, but these are not required.
Before you ask, I unfortunately cannot afford to hire a paid DM.
I have a DM application form here for you. Don't worry, there's no right or wrong answers. I just wanted to get some idea what to expect from you.
Name:
How much experience do you have as a DM?
Time Zone
How long do you expect a typical session to run?
Would you like to run a module or an original story?
I’m open to both options. This is mainly to get an idea of what to expect if I choose you.
Will the game be based on official or original content?
Some DM’s like to draw on the official content, others like to make their own lore, and some like to use a bit of both. What do you prefer to do? For example, what Pantheon are you using? Are you using the official gods of Dungeons and Dragons lore, mythology (i.e. Greek, Egyptian, Norse, Celtic), a completely original one, or some combination thereof?
Outline of your DM’ing style:
Nothing too fancy, just an idea what kind of game you like to run.
Can you provide a short outline of the game’s Premise?
What is your preferred platform? Do you like to use theater of the mind or would you rather use Roll20 to visualize the game?
If you're interested in playing in a PbP thread on here until you can find a DM able to handle discord and all these autistic-unfirendly live interaction platforms, I'm recruiting for a homebrew campaign I think you might find interesting. I have a great deal of experience as a DM before 2nd edition, left the game to play World of Darkness and other RPG's,; had a local group where I rediscovered 5e as a player but it fell apart just as I was ready to try DMing again. My names are legion, but generally now go by Dan o'Shanter online except for this site and a few others; time zone is US EST. I definitely prefer a storytelling approach as a poet and writer by profession, but even before that it was the style I seemed to like best and do best in. Many details about the game can be found on the recruiting thread I've started at https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/looking-for-players-groups/172533-what-lies-beneath-cricket-tor-experienced-dm
