Somewhere, lost in the shrouded realms of death, lies a land of endless night where long-forgotten horrors are revealed to those who travel through the mist.
There, in a crooked house lives a Crooked Man with a crooked grin. He raises crooked arms to a Crooked tree at the edge of midnight and bears the whispers of the Old Ones.
They speak of a beast that stalks the darkest woods and darkest hearts, a crown of horns upon its head. If you lose your way and feel a warm breath that chills you to the bone, run.
Follow the songs of harvest time, and before long, you’ll find revelry in the dancing shadows of blazing wicker. No matter your story, these lonesome, misty rails will deliver you to where the hallowed can not save you.
Now is the time to brave the the dark wood, beware the witching hour, and weave your own dreadful folktale beneath the Crooked Moon.
In The Crooked Moon, you might:
🌙 Explore Wickermoor Hollow and its fog-choked villages and forgotten woods
🌙 Confront fallen heroes and see what awaits you should you hesitate or fail
🌙 Battle terrifying foes inspired by folklore and horror staples
🌙 Resist the rise of a Horned God and the Crooked Queen who would remake the world
🌙 Discover who you are when the stars fade and the old ways return
🌙 Take a ride on a Ghost Train! (Non-negotiable)
Well, with that hard sell out of the way, howdy potential passenger!
I'm running The Crooked Moon if you haven't noticed by now. I know. I've been keeping it pretty secret. I know. This folklore horror campaign was created by the fine folks over at Legends of Avantris and is set within a Realm of the Dead by the name of Druskenvald! It comes with its own new species, subclasses, spells, terrifying enemies, and dark bargains with the powers that be. So, if you're looking for something new. Something that isn't elves swinging swords at dragons and dwarves delving too deep and greedily, this campaign might just be what you've been searching the dark for.
Our game listing on Roll20 has posts that contain our Code of Conduct and explain our Character Building guidelines.
My tables are safe and inclusive spaces. I've been running online games for seven years now and playing various Table Top Role role-playing games for an "oh god you're old, aren't you Grandpa" amount of time. Due to a player's schedule change, we are looking to fill an open seat for our Monday game! Our party is currently Level 3.
Our next session is Monday, 07/28!
Our Story So Far:
Our party met after boarding The Ghostlight Express; a phantom black train under the care of The Vagrant, that ferries souls across the land of Druskenvald. When a Phantom Trainhopper broke the windows on the train, allowing The Shroud of mist outside into the train, the party was forced to intervene as the Haints aboard transformed into dangerous specters. The Vagrant asked for more help, letting them know there were several other haints on board that were also in danger of being transformed and destroying the train.
Our group helped several Haints complete their unfinished business, and met the Lord and Lady of Druskenvald in the process. (They also got a tarot reading of their fate from Lady Druskenvald).
Unfortunately the Phantom Trainhopper infected the Fuel Source of The Ghostlight Express and, after fighting a necrotic fire spirit, the Ghostlight Express crashed in the middle of the woods in a place called Wickermoor Hollow. Miraculously, the group, Lord and Lady Druskenvald, and The Vagrant all survived the crash.
Asking for further assistance, the Vagrant explained he had stashed emergency fuel sources, Soul Cans, but they'd been thrown about the area in the crash. The group collected what they found, but after pouring the first Soul Can into the Tender, the Ghostlight Express twisted into a demonic version of itself and attacked!
The party valiantly fought the Ghostlight Express back, destroying its fuel sources and finally destroying the Phantom Trainhopper that had ruined their delightful train trip. The train began to repair itself and The Vagrant climbed aboard.
"Can't right take you on the train now, friends. Not in this state. I'll be back in a week or two hopefully and I'll pick you up then!" He proclaimed as the Ghostlight Express took off into the sky.
With no other options, the group joined Phillip and Adella Druskenvald to the Village of Wickermoor Hollow, where the Druskenvalds hold an estate.
Hey, if a spot is still available, I'd be interested in joining the Monday game, Discord handle is greatest_showman (I do have a conflict on the 28th, but if that's alright, I'd love to talk more about the game)
