• Welcome to The Tavern! • 

My friends and I have been playing dnd for a while and honestly the worst part is scheduling. So we decided to make a server where scheduling, finding DMs, and more are not even needed. Styled like an MMO, the campaign is open world and centered around the main Tavern, a meetup for adventurers and creatures of all types, where you introduce your character and start interacting there.

— INFORMATION —
The Tavern is a free DND 5e freestyle roleplay area where you create a character using a character sheet, statblock, or purely in concept form. A job board will be posted and there is also an encounters channel for people who want to DM encounters for specific players. The character creation rules are very simple and any experience level is welcome! You can hop on and off at any time with no worries about missing sessions. 

Homebrew, legacy content, all of the following are welcome. Your character can be from any time period and any backstory- the Tavern more focuses on interaction between characters rather than past story.

This style of playing is very different than most DND games, focusing a lot more on story than mechanics and where everyone is their own DM. Tavernkeep mods will regulate and I’ll act as an overarching DM for fallback situations.

— THE TAVERN LORE —
Lore of the tavern is created through character interactions, whether it be battles, feuds, factions, or more! The tavern lore is hardly linear, and you can influence the world as you please, dealing with the consequences and reaping the rewards of your actions. 

The following lore is set in stone, however, and provides a base for you to build off of:

The world is a flat Nexus plane around (the size of Canada) called Utopia. An aura of calm radiates from every river, tree, and mountain, a polar opposite to a Domain of Dread. Most of the area is unpopulated and covered in spring fields, golden forests, and winding rivers, though a few settlements have sprung up on the riverbanks. Civilization is quite medieval- towns governed by mayors and agricultural still an explorative concept. Conflict barely starts here, as most towns are separate enough to not come head to head.

To the north lie the Planar Peaks, a dragon guarded cave system that defends the plethora of portals hidden within, leading to every world and plane in existence. The south is where the Onyx Swamps lie, a home for the demigoddess Onyxia filled with monsters and treasure alike. To the west is Kilturium, a dried out desert land where massive creatures coexist in the arid heat. Knights come to train here and test their skills against eachother in competition. In the east are the rolling hills with no name, a place where the grass is always green and nothing comes to harm. And finally, in the center of it all, is the Elysium tavern. Built by a former demon lord as a safe haven for his friends and guests, all are welcome.

My name is cyno :) and I’ve been playing dnd for over 12 years. I’m currently a uni student majoring in Ecology and Comp Sci, and I love DND, the color red, animals (especially crocodilians), and more! I’m also an artist and love drawing other people’s characters.
