In the heart of a world veiled in mystery and enchantment lies Despaira, a realm of ancient wonders and unfathomable darkness. Among its myriad of towns and settlements, the desert city of Endgate stands defiant, a place where comedy and thriller dance a captivating waltz under the sweltering sun. Endgate, a beacon of hope amidst the Endlands, lures adventurers like moths to a flame, promising untold knowledge, boundless riches, and the chance to quench their curiosity in the oasis of the unknown. Its empire, The Caliginous Conclave, ruled by the rarely seen Archon Silvanorien Silverthorn, teeters between righteousness and treachery.
The sun rises, it bathes the city in a dusty golden hue, revealing its true visage. Covered in sand and soot, the city carries the weight of its history in every gritty crevice. But amidst this gritty landscape, a single gleaming pillar stands tall and majestic, defying the dust and shadows with its brilliance. The Spire, as it is called, thrusts itself towards the heavens, an elegant tribute to both magic and engineering. Adorned with mirrors and glistening white gold, it reflects the rays of the sun, illuminating the city below in fleeting moments of radiance. Through the heart of the dusty streets, a brine river winds its way—the famed Whispering Run. Its murky waters speak tales of forgotten times and untold secrets, a silent witness to the eons that have passed. Its water, once believed to be a source of life, now serves as a mere illusion of respite, for drinking it brings naught but despair. And as darkness descends... the city's underbelly awakens with a cacophony of sounds and shadows. The Black Talons soar through the night skies, seeking justice amidst the chaos, while The Scarlet Fringe slithers in the alleys, weaving a tapestry of havoc and disorder. Yet, beyond the clash of these rival gangs, an enigmatic force lurks—the Maquis, protectors or oppressors? Their true intentions shrouded in whispers and speculation.
But beneath the surface of this seemingly very unordinary city, something truly malevolent stirs—the presence of The Stained Glass Sinner. For two centuries, this elusive serial killer has cast an indelible shadow over Endgate, leaving behind a trail of crystalline terror. Victims turned into haunting stained glass figures bear silent witness to the city's darkest secrets. Victims of every walk of life have fallen prey to his chilling machinations, their once vibrant souls crystallized into hauntingly beautiful stained glass mannequins. Each murder, a grotesque work of art, a macabre testament to the Sinner's incomprehensible cruelty and unnerving intelligence. Rumors abound like haunting whispers among the populace, spreading tales of his ever-changing appearance, as if he were a spectral wraith, vanishing and reemerging from the shadows. No one has seen the Sinner unmasked, except for the daring adventurers who dared to confront him and lived to speak of it. They bear the chilling memory of his perpetually smiling visage, a haunting reminder that evil wears many faces, each more twisted than the last.
It is here, in a city of hope and the hopeless, that we meet Gar, once a humble Orc chef, now wields a formidable spatula, dishing out justice to the wicked and savory delights to his companions. Duncan, a robotic goblinoid, embraces the labyrinth of secrets as a detective, his intellect unmatched, uncovering the threads of truth in the tapestry of lies. Alongside them stands Zander, the human sorcerer, his heart heavy with the weight of loss and the yearning for closure. Guided by compassion, he seeks to heal both the living and the wounded spirits that roam the night. And finally Visaris, the harengon warlock, embodies paternal love as he makes a fateful pact with enigmatic forces, guarding his innocent child from the clutches of darkness. A solid 4, no doubt, but definitely room for one more...
Funding the operation is Baron Cogspring Goldgear, a golden warforged of mysterious origins. This newly appointed Baron, veiled in secrets, becomes the linchpin of their shared destiny. Under his auspices, they shall traverse the shadows and pursue The Stained Glass Sinner, a malevolence that transcends time. For each spell cast, for each secret unveiled, the tapestry of fate weaves itself tighter, entwining the adventurers with the very fabric of Despaira's existence. The balance of light and shadow teeters on the edge, and the resonance of their choices reverberates across the world.
Join the hunt in this dark and enthralling tale, where laughter dances with shadows, and where the brightest moments flicker amidst the darkest nights. Embark on an odyssey of investigation and intrigue, and uncover the elusive truth shrouded in the heart of Endgate. In the City of Mysteries, every step uncovers secrets, and every decision echoes across the lands. Will you take up the mantle of heroes and illuminate the darkness? Or shall you succumb to the chilling embrace of Despaira's secrets, forever lost amidst the symphony of shadows and light? The fate of Endgate awaits your chosen path. Embrace the unknown, for legends shall be born and destinies shaped in the timeless realm of Despaira. Join The Glassbane Chronicles.
Too much? If not and you're interested, then here's some above table information about the campaign and myself. By the way hi. I'm Corvo.
I'm looking for 1 player, 21+ (non-negotiable), who would be available at 8pm EST to join a 3-4 hour campaign, once a week on Mondays. The vibes of the campaign would be 65% RP and 35% Combat as well as a 50/50 split between comedy and thriller-drama. We'd also be using Owlbear for maps, Dnd Beyond for character sheets, and discord for voice chat. You could roll virtual or physical dice, doesn't matter to me but certain rolls like death saves would be on Dnd Beyond just for clarity sake, and rolled privately between me and you just to keep tension high for everyone. Almost every class/race would be allowed as well, just a couple of subclass limitations like divination wizard and chronurgy wizard. You would be joining the campaign at level 4, same level as everyone else at the moment. How you'd join is something that we would discuss during character creation. You could have lost someone to SGS, could be a grizzled cop, or literally anything else. I'm a DM who likes to let my players have fun and try things they may have never gotten the chance before. If I can find a way to flex the rules (and by god are they flexible) then you can absolutely try it. Homebrew is not only allowed but actively encouraged, provided it's well balanced. I get last say but even if I'm not okay with it I'm more than willing to work with you to find a way to make it happen somehow.
The rules are pretty basic too. Don't be a bad person. No racism, no homophobia, no sexism, no bigotry of any kind. We live and let live here and love each other how they are. However we also don't tolerate people who come in looking to shatter peace. If you want chill vibes with a game that you can both laugh in and cry in, then I'm here to provide. If you're looking for some super evil campaign where you're being a super murderhobo then this isn't the place for you. If you can't show up for a session, that's fine! Stuff happens. I just ask you give me as much notice as you can.
As for me, I've been DMing for 5+ years. I'm a massive nerd who lives Star Trek, James Bond and DnD. I work from home so I'm typically available or online. I love to hang out and shoot the shit, but I don't expect any of my players to. This campaign is NOT Paid at all. I do not ask for anyone to pay or donate. If you want to, I mean go for it, but you'd have to actively ask for my info to send it. I don't post that stuff anywhere. I am just looking for new people to play with and new friends. If I get to show people a dope world (I think) along the way, then that's even better!
If you're interested, shoot me a message. I hope to hear from you soon!

If you're still looking for a new player, I'm definitely interested. This sounds like a very cool setting, and the blend of a gothic atmosphere with an aged desert city is great flavor.
I'm 21, been playing dnd for a couple years now, and love games that are a blend of combat and roleplay (the last few games I played were very crunchy hacknslash joints, so this textured game world sounds like a welcome change-up). Also, not that it matters for this game, but I just finished Dishonored 2 and loved it :)
My discord is osmanthuslynch, feel free to message me if you want. If it's not the right fit, I totally understand.
