Greetings prospective adventurer! I am here searching for players to join in a currently ongoing campaign.
Let me first give the logistics of the game. The 5 of us are looking for 1 to 2 players, ages 18 +, meeting every Saturday at 12 noon EST. We typically play for roughly 4 hours. We are also 30 + sessions into the game, and the players are at level 8. This is a high fantasy setting DnD 5e campaign. We play with voice chat and video cameras (necessary) using Discord, and use Roll20 for virtual tabletop.
The Setting
The players began in “The Realm”, a region that frowns upon the use of magic. Early on, the party was unraveling a mystery via the visions of one of the PCs, Penny (more on him below). Long story short, it seemed there was a demon lord being held prisoner in Avernus, and he was trying to find a way to escape. The party eventually came into contact with a cult known as the Black Hand. They were performing ritualistic sacrifices in an attempt to bring back their god to the material plane. The party found themselves uncovering one such sacrifice in the capital city. There, they battled with the cult. Doing so revealed their arcane powers, and they were detained by the High Inquisition (the “magic hunters”, if you will), and then banished from The Realm to the marshlands. They managed to navigate their way through, and used an NPC connection to board a sea ship where they would attempt to relocate and find a new home. This brought them to the island of Vikonia.
Here, the party purchased a home and has since settled down a bit. They have been picking up quests from the island's adventuring guild. However, they have since encountered Slarg, a bugbear chieftain of sorts who runs a large clan of bugbears. Slarg demands tribute of 1 magic item per month while they are on the island. The party is still considering how to handle this. The island itself is half civilized (the western side), and half haunted and unoccupied (the eastern side), with the bugbears in-between stopping adventurers and trade to collect tribute. The party has also discovered that someone is in league with Slarg, possibly from the magic college on the island. There is A LOT of stuff that happened in between all this, but that would make this post ridiculously long (30 sessions is a lot of notes!).
The Players
Will (he/him), playing as Penny the rogue. Penny comes from the capital city of Ankerock (back in The Realm). He once possessed an important stone that allowed him to communicate with a demon lord that was being held prisoner in Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells.
Arya (she/her), playing as Locke the artificer / auran tempromental. Locke comes from the town of Lake Mage (back in The Realm), which was the site of a magical disaster. As a result, she finds herself slowly transforming into a sort of air elemental, as reflected in her subclass. Her father is in a crisis as he is attempting to avoid a contract he made with Asmodeus of the Nine Hells. As a result, he is being hunted by a group of “Inevitables”, and finds himself plane traveling to avoid them.
Reddo (he/him), playing as Cecil the cleric. He also comes from Ankerock and is a part of the Serrastel noble house, with them working as morticians and tenders of the crypts below Ankerock. Due to the nature of his family’s work Cecil is an avid follower of the Raven Queen, and has found himself ushering the dead into the afterlife perhaps more than he may like.
Mallie (she/they), playing as Virtue the college of lore bard. She comes from Feyndor (back in The Realm), the home of the Silver Saints, a monster hunting organization and protectors of The Realm. She learned her share of magic from/with Vanna, the daughter of a retired Silver Saint, in the libraries of the Grand Repository. She then followed her adventurous heart, leaving behind her large family, south to play all the taverns possible. This is where she encounters Guns and Roses, tagging along with them at first for safety, but quickly becomes attached to the chaotic gang.
The DM
B (he/him) - me! I enjoy helping players create their characters so that they have a meaningful place in the world and its plot. As the DM, my first priority is making sure everyone is having a good time and enjoying themselves every session. I am open to all feedback, and oftentimes work on homebrew ideas with players, be it subclasses, magic items, or story hooks.
Some Key NPCs
Adrian, a brain in a jar that the party found in a mind flayer layer. They have taken him with them and it communicates with them telepathically.
Vernadon, a vampire lord that the party encountered while navigating the Shadowfell. Vernadon is in a sort of mutually beneficial relationship with the party. The party can ask him for favors, and in return they owe him a favor.
Rokshal, a celestial. The party met him in Dead Man’s Cove while participating in an illegal underground combat tournament (which involved the use of magic). They had rescued him from The Realm when the eyes of scrutiny became more intense after the party was banished from The Realm. He now resides with the party.
Vanna, a lifelong friend of Virtue. She is currently residing with the party.
What the Party is Looking For
Preferably, the party wants at least 1 of the new players to be a barbarian/paladin/fighter, just given the current composition they lack a frontliner. We want meaningful characters that feel connected to the party, not just someone who is sort of being dragged along for the ride. We like to role play quite a bit. I consider the 5 of us to be a pretty close knit group. We actively participate in discussions in between sessions, whether it's about next sessions, video games, memes, or whatever is going on. It would be really cool if our new players fit into that as well.
What the Party is Like
Chaotic.
The ongoing joke we have running is “...Are we the bad guys?” because we can lean a bit... morally gray. The core of our party wants to do good.
Lots of memes/pet projects for this campaign and characters that we make, or get art commissioned for.
Next Steps
If you think this campaign is a good fit for you, add me on Discord: little_b_button. We can chat more there, and there will eventually be a voice call with myself and possibly some other members of the group to see if you are a good fit for the campaign.
