Hi there! We are two players and a DM in the Arlington/Medford/Malden area who are looking to get a new campaign group together in person bi-weekly.
This will be our first time playing together so this could be a great opportunity to learn about D&D in an inclusive and welcoming environment. Or a chance to use your experience to shine in a game with a unique twist on stock D&D adventures.
Game info: -25+ (players and DM are in our 30s/40s) -POC, LGBTQ+ and players with disabilities particularly encouraged to apply! -First game would be the weekend of July 29th -Games typically on weekend early evenings but could be flexible based on player availability.
Campaign info:
One gray unexciting morning in your gray unexciting life you are the recipient of an unusual envelope with an unusual message.
“The Faerun Grand Adventurers Society & Sodality of Yore is proud to announce your nomination, in light of your many decades of legendary deeds, for the coveted Caladorn Casalanter Prize for Boldest Hero of the Century! Your attendance is requested at the Great Hall of the Yawning Portal on the eve of the spring solstice to celebrate 5,000 years of the Society’s existence and give out the awards, all of which of course come with a lavish estate on the Golden Isle of Champions and 777k gold coins. No +1s. Please sign below to RSVP.”
And there below the signature line is the name of a world renowned hero, someone whose very existence is only a myth, a tale told to a bored buddy over too many pints of ale or whispered to cousins around the campfire. As you ponder this message, you know only two things to be true:
You are not this person, not by a long shot. But
You must attend that gala event and win that prize.
Before you can think twice you sign the famous name with your best heroic flourish. Suddenly the message bursts into flame in your hands, and the loops of your signature flit out the window like golden cobwebs on the wind. There’s no turning back now. A final question springs to mind:
What are you going to wear?

The players play 1st level characters who all individually receive a message seemingly by accident addressed to a legendary hero to attend a grand gala for heroes and potentially win a huge award. They decide to do their best to pretend to be that hero and go to the party. They seem to pull it off at first but of course at the event something wild happens and suddenly the players are tasked with an actual heroic mission which they must agree to and so are stuck in these other roles as the adventures unfold.
The module we’ll start with, Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, is designed for players new to D&D but of course all experience levels are welcome.
More DM Style Notes: -Rule of Cool all the way. Rules are meant to serve the story the group is telling, not the other way around. -50/50 RP/Combat -50/50 Drama/Comedy -Racism/Sexism/Homophobia/Transphobia will not be tolerated. -Being a total noob and asking lots of questions is encouraged. -I’ve been a DM since I was a teenager in the 90s (yikes) but after a long hiatus and getting back into TTRPGs online post-COVID this will be the first IRL game I’ve run in many many years. Hooray!

Hi! I just joined the site and stumbled across this message, so perhaps it's too late. But are you still looking for players? If so, I'd be very interested in hearing more! Thanks!
