Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Any...newer preferred. Location/Timezone: England - so GMT/BST Schedule: One evening a week. TBD Roles sought: 2 (Possibly 3) more players Game style: Roleplay gives us enemies to fight! Probably about equal weighting to combat/roleplay/politics.
Starting soon, 5 edition campaign utilising the power of the internet to bring geeks enthusiastic, imaginative people together.
Conferencing will be handled by discord, and character records, positioning (Maps and cool tokens of your characters) and dice rolling will be courtesy of Fantasy Grounds (Free Demo version is available direct, or through Steam). I have the full version meaning I can host those of you in the cheap seats.)
I would recommend using DNDBeyond to generate your characters, as it keeps them legal, and for a while at least, you will have access to my Players Handbook and another player's Xanthar's Guide to Everything. (Link to follow once you have been accepted into the group.)
You don't need any previous experience – just a willingness to join in and support the group. The DM (err, that'll be me) has been playing for..2,3,5,10, err a lot of years. :) And Ryan, (the guy with Xanthar's guide (the only reason he got in!!!) ) has been playing for ….nearly as long.
Either of us will be more than happy to answer any game based questions.
The campaign (game) will probably be set in the Forgotten Realms (Neverwinter's setting) but knowledge of that realm – or indeed any other – is not vital.
You will be expected to know the difference between a club and a rapier. You must understand the concept of morals.
Appropriate language will be expected – if it offends anyone, then it will be deemed offensive and discussion will follow to take appropriate action to keep the atmosphere friendly for all involved. (Even if that means the offended party is asked to leave!) I am happy to swear my bottom off, but most of the time there is no need for it.
There will be teething problems, especially with Fantasy Grounds, but I expect they will be ironed out fairly quickly – the group already has a couple of tech savvy members, (including an Open Reach engineer – Woo Hoo!)
The current plan is to play on a Thursday Evening 7-10PM GMT, but this is flexible. At least one member of the group has odd shift patterns. At least 2 members are very flexible on the evenings (ooh err missus!) and some weekends.
I envisage the game will be tactics heavy (read: a fair amount of combat), with a slightly lesser emphasis on Roleplaying and Politics.*
*NOT Game of Thrones or Westminster level politics, more Four Musketeers or Lord of the Rings.
As the DM, my job is to try to provide an enjoyable framework for your adventures. I 'win' when you win. I am not the opponent – but I do control the actions of your enemies, and they do want to win. Sometimes that will be BAD for you guys! But that's good. That covers a lot, and if you have any questions, please post here or PM me.
Only 3 things are set in stone so far:Me. Ryan & Grom. Fantasy Grounds.
There is no reason this should cost you any money – but fair warning up front: This is a hobby and if you are not careful you may find you “need” this book or “have to have” that awesome figure...
You have been warned.
With quite a number of forum posts here on D&D Beyond, you can probably get an idea of what I am like...
I'm looking at grabbing Fantasy Grounds myself so i can Host things, but i definitely would feel Better as a Player for afew sessions to get the gist of things (Specifically the full rules Granted I won't need to know all of them 100% as a player but will definitely need to have a handle on them). If you don't mind mentoring for abit i'd love to join in.

Always Looking for Feedback and Critique on anything I Publish, IM me if you have suggestions.
I'm 33 years old, living in Switzerland and got in touch with D&D as well as "Das Schwarze Auge" back in my childhood.
I like the roleplay aspect, interacting with PCs as well as NPCs, find creative ways to solve problems and slip into a character to try give him an immersive life in a world full of myth, legends, and danger the most. Of course is combat also important and a good fight also a lot of fun but only if it's used to punctuate a great story.
English isn't my first language but this shouldn't be a problem, at least not for me if you can live with a "Swissgerman" accent. I got linked here because of another thread where this group has been mentioned. There are already about 3-4 players which found together in a discord channel. It would be great The_Plundered_Tumbs if you could maybe have a chat with us there to see if we can find together?
After a flurry of activity last night, we now have 5 players + DM, which I think is a good number....however, if a couple of players are more "spectator types" (which is fine, as a player I tend towards the sit back and remain enigmatic) then there might be room for one more.
"There's always room for one more on the block! [dribble]"
Alternatively, one of the players might drop out after one session. You just never know with new groups.
Bottom line - I'll send a link to our discord channel so you can drop by and say hello (in text, don't panic!). I'm at work this morning so it probably won't be until later.

Looking forward to seeing how we maybe unite!
Hi
I would like to join if there is a slot available. I'm fairly experienced at D&D and am in the GMT timezone
Hello,
My name is Connor and I have never played D&D but would love to learn!
If you still have spots available, I would like to be a part of it!
Thanks!
