Something evil stirs beneath the island of Chillhame. Dark forces are gathering and the eyes of the children of the Host turn towards the surface, hungry for victory and vengeance. Soon, the drums of war will beat to the footsteps of the advancing soldiers and the ancient war between the Host and the Starborn will begin once again.
The Drow War is coming.
The Drow War is a trilogy of adventure arcs covering the epic tale of the conflict between the Host and the Starborn, taking the characters from 1st to 30th level as they struggle against the drow and their allies, taking the role of the Starborn - the incarnations of the stars themselves, pitted against the evil and darkness of the Host. They will need to seek the truth of their own natures, travel through ancient ruins and corrupt cities, deal with treachery and trickery and take part in immense battles with the foe.
And this is only the beginning.
Hey everyone! I’m looking for several players to join me and a couple of others for this grand campaign. Originally published under the D&D 3.5 edition rule set back in 2005, I will update it to the 5E rules and look forward to finally run this exciting set of adventures.
While the age-old plot of ‘drow are bad and they want to kill you all’ is a tired and unoriginal trope by now, in my opinion is has never been done better and on this grand of a scale as with this campaign. The characters being incarnations of divine aspects destined to fight against the eternal threat of darkness that wants to literally swallow all light in the multiverse certainly is an awe-inspiring premise and one I am eager to guide you through.
The campaign has been designed back then with the existing rules of epic gameplay in mind, going beyond the usual level cap of 20 to greater heights. While I wouldn’t claim to have played extensively at those levels, I have run multiple games (during the 3 edition times as well as in 5E) at this tier and am quite comfortable assuring anyone interested to have a good time, despite venturing into uncharted waters. Rules for these levels will differ drastically from the basic boons offered in the official rules, though.
The story features the titular war aspect of fantasy roleplaying quite heavily, and while we won’t be using any mass combat rules, there will be numerous times when your party will be asked to take part in war-related missions, strategic planning, dealing with the aftermath of war-brought destruction, etc. Especially during our current times this might not be everyone’s cup of tea, so please make sure you are actually interested in these themes!
Besides this, there will be alliances forged across the continents to stand against the drow invasion, sunken cities to be explored, assassins evaded, elven high magic to be tampered with, planar assistance to be requested from both Heaven and Hell, legendary artifacts to be unearthed, and entire worlds shattered as the time of the final confrontation looms every closer.
As I have mentioned above, no Fantasy Grounds experience is necessary (though you should be familiar with the basic rules of 5E), I’m happy to help, explain and teach, as long as you are interested in doing so as well. All of the already present players are veterans in FG and will be able to assist as well.
If this sounds interesting to you, please send me a message on Discord under 'dmrhuarc' and we can have a chat :)
