Looking to start a brand new campaign set within Eberron.
Your group (level 7) belongs to a special elite mercenary unit not so affectionately known as, "The Bloody Hand," and leased out to the Merchant Guild by House Deneith. You do not belong to the house, but you most definitely make them a ton of money. The truth is the Merchant Guild wouldn't be wielding half its influence if it wasn't for House Deneith and your unit of problem solvers. Your group’s reputation for brutality and violence is not wholly representative of reality, but a hard reputation is a useful thing to have in the seedy underbelly of business and politics in Khorvaire.
But now it seems the upstart prince (and advised by an unknown wizard) of Karnat has ambitions that are counter to the will of the guild and are even worse for his neighbors. The drums of war are pounding, which is bad for business, something the guild cannot abide by. There have already been raids in the borderlands and merchant trains have started going missing. The guild needs to do something, or a full-fledged war will ravage the land. It might already be too late.
Your handler is a scarred and beaten Warforged Fighter named RL- 412, "R." for short. His left arm is missing at the shoulder and a long-jagged scar runs down his face from forehead to chin. R is a battle-tested grizzled old warrior, but he is definitely past his prime. Though he would be much more comfortable swinging his sword than being involved in statecraft and espionage, it didn't take the Guild long to see his value in orchestrating those types of missions. R is loyal to the Guild to the point of zealotry and does not suffer failure. Your group is a useful tool, but you're still a tool.
Game: D&D 5e (Eberron)
Group type: Online
Experience: Moderate experience as a DM, but substantial as a player
Location/Timezone: United States EST
Schedule: Bi-Weekly Thursdays 6:30 pm EST – 10:30 pm EST (might consider weekly if y’all want)
Roles sought: Players (0/4), 18+, with a decent amount of experience. Experience playing in Eberron is highly desired. Please be able to speak English fluently and have a GOOD internet connection.
Platform: Discord and Roll20
Game style: This game will be combat heavy with political intrigue and espionage thrown in for flavor. This is a genuinely neutral campaign and will be difficult to play for newer players. No homebrew races or classes.
Opt-in: Please reach out to me on Discord (MDav#7538) to set up a quick interview.
I only have 3 main rules which I hope everyone will respect
I'm interested! Haven't played Eberron before (edit: I'm a bit of a lore junkie and have no problem doing a deep dive into a setting to prep) but it sounds fun and I have a few neutral-ish character concepts I've been mulling over for a bit. Experienced player, and a mix of combat and RP like what you describe sounds great!
