I will be starting a campaign in roughly two months, and I am searching for players that would be interested joining the sessions. This campaign will include a prologue that will test the new tabletop roleplaying system that I have designed that overcomes the shortcomings of D&D 5e mechanics, by allowing the skills and experiences of the character to determine successes and failures, instead of luck of rolls.
The campaign appeals to those who enjoy roleplaying and immersing themselves within the lore of the story, as opposed to those who enjoy combative scenarios. Obviously, combat and conflict will be present in the campaign, but the combative mechanics are designed to expedite the turn-based system, as opposed to the tedium associated with combat in D&D 5e, allowing for quick, enjoyable, yet risky combative scenarios. Those who enjoy narrative-focused and interactive-driven sessions and plots, in addition to immersion within the lore, will greatly enjoy the campaign; this is a testimonial provided by players in the past.
In addition to differences in skill-based and combative mechanics, the new system provides new mechanics for magic. Details of the system can be discussed with interested individuals when the time comes.
Please note that the usage of the new system is not mandatory for joining the campaign; if the majority do not feel that the new system is appealing, then the campaign can commence with the standard D&D 5e rules - there will be minor modifications enforced . However, priority will be granted to players who wish to test the new system.
As such, I am searching for a Discord community that will host this new campaign that I wish to start, from where I can recruit players once the time comes. To provide insight into the nature of the campaign, the themes that could be encountered include: fantasy, steampunk, psychological thrills, suspense, mystery and horror. With regards to horror, players can expect elements from Berserk (anime/manga), Game of Thrones (novels/show) and Lovecraftian stories (novels/games); ironically, I never read or watched any of those, but that was the feedback received from players in the past.
The current plot of the campaign is determined by the choices and decisions of the characters or the party. However, there are overarching plots within the campaign which characters can either engage in, avoid or completely ignore. The campaign is designed to allow players to influence the world of the campaign either actively or passively. For example, a character may decide to wage war against a particular nation or government, and build an army accordingly, or a character may decide to live peacefully in a rural area; however, either character will be undoubtedly affected by the political conflicts of the world.
If people wish to learn more about the campaign or the new system, feel free to message me on Discord.
