TLDR; Two people looking for an online D&D5e group based in AEDT, with a heavy focus on roleplaying, character, and world immersion.
Hi all! We’re two people in their mid-30s looking for an online (voice & video) queer-friendly, gender-diverse game with a group of similarly aged and minded people.
Our previous game fell apart back in June due to time-zone conflicts, it was immensely hard work trying to schedule games across Perth/Melbourne/New York times, so we’d like to keep it to an AEDT group. We’re on opposite sides of Melbourne, so regular in-person games won’t work for us, but special occasions might. Generally, our availability is Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun evenings from 7:00pm onwards.
We love RP heavy games and getting deep into lore and mystery. We also enjoy attempting accents and using roleplay to explore different themes through our characters. We know it’s cliché to say but we would love a game akin to Critical Role, or the more RP focused Dimension 20 seasons.
About Us:
Daniel (he/him) is currently GMing a game of Call of the Netherdeep, and has fallen into the forever GM role, but is really itching to play again. He loves martials & half casters and is aching to play “just a lil guy.” He’s been working on a new accent that will be debuted for a new character, warts and all.
His current live play obsession is Worlds Beyond Number and their main campaign The Wizard, the Witch, and the Wild One. He thoroughly enjoys the way they combine excellent characters, a reactive world, and immersive storytelling.
Cassi (she/her) is currently playing in Daniel's Netherdeep game. She’s played in several campaigns with different groups before, but needs a high level healer to remove the Curse of the Unfinished Campaign. One day she'll get to finish a story!
Her past three characters have been healers and she's super keen to play something different again (like someone sneaky who shoots stuff with arrows or magic). Her accent is *not* ready to be debuted, but she’s gonna give it a go anyway.
Our dream GM would hold Matt Mercer, Brennan Lee Mulligan, and Aabria Iyengar as inspirations and GM goals, while still being their authentic self (and laughing along while we all make fools of ourselves trying to live up to our heroes). They would create a safe space where their players’ limits, lines, and veils are respected, and one where open and honest communication is a constant.
We’d like to play in a custom campaign or pre-written module set in a traditional high fantasy, urban fantasy, or sci-fantasy setting; or a world akin to Exandria. Neither of us have ever played campaigns that have finished, they always ended before any kind of resolution to the story, so we’d love to start with smaller arcs that build over time. We’re not really interested in one-shots.
Although we have a large aspirational wish-list, our expectations are more grounded. We really just want to find a group of nerds with similar ideals, goals, inspirations, and play style, to hang out and create stories with regularly.
Thanks for reading this essay (believe it or not - this is the short version). If we sound like the kind of people you’d wanna play some D&D with please send us a message, we look forward to meeting you!
I just wrapped up a campaign I was DMing and I'm starting to get the itch again. I'm taking a break for a couple of months but wanted to comment so I can find you both to send an invite when I'm ready to start up a campaign again.
Hi I live in Melbourne, specifically Mitcham. I am going to start DM a group but also I like to be a player and make voices. Although, I don't share same points of view about queer and multiple genders, I am very respectful and tolerant of other ideologies. I am free to play online.
How is the search going, did you two manage to find something? I'm in the same boat as a forever DM and haven't managed to convince the 3 friends I DM for to give it a go. I'm in Canberra, so also in AEDT. I really like the sound of your play style, it would be cool to play as a player with you sometime if the rare DM can be found.
Im in nsw and about to start a campaign with 2 noobies... 1 in new york usa and other is in my house my campaign is more based around role play deplomacy with the world and based in a world with alot of termoil what you do with it changes everything about the world it is homebrew this campaign is built around your groups backstorys with a few quests to lead but most of the story highly depends what your choices are... if you wana talk your way threw conflict? Do it wana fight to assert dominance? Do it wana make a airforce with custom tech? Be my guest the start of the campaign is a 2 part mission... 1 typical dungioun for noobies to learn easy lv3 by end... after is intrigue mission that sets the mood for rest of campaign... are you the good guys? Bad guys? Neutral o ly wanting money? Do you just abandon the outpost in need? All up to you. If you chose to run a country (goal is you guys run a country but you can avoid it)
Hey, I run multiple homebrewed tables specifically to make it easier for newbies to play with experienced people. We're looking for more players. What's your Discord? Mine is sinigang0696 if you want to add me straight away

That sounds great! Would love to connect when you decide to start up again if we're still looking for a game! :)
