Welcome to Coyote Crossing, a town so quiet the most excitement ever kicked up was Martha Lou's strawberry preserves! That is until the local lads struck gold in the hills. Now, a gleaming promise has captivated every soul this side of the Sticks.
You've been lured in by the legends, drawn west by the allure of Howlin' Mines' riches. Yet, as you step into town, a whisper rustles through the air, and something feels downright peculiar about the town and its folk. There's a stir beneath your boots, a disturbance not meant to be. Can you unravel the mystery in time, or will you snatch enough loot to ride off into the sunset solo?
About the Group
Coyote Crossing is a text-based, long form, play-by-post reflavored DnD 5e campaign set in the aesthetic period of the American Wild West. In other words, this shindig follows the classic 5e set up, but in the flavor of Western fantasy. Your character's got a bow? Nah, that's a gun now! Swigged a potion? Nope, reckon it's an elixir! In other words, there are no major gameplay changes, only imaginative ones.
Gameplay takes place through posting in the campaign's Discord group. As this is play-by-post, dialogue, combat, and all interaction will be text based, with the assistance of the DnD bot Avrae.
This campaign is designed for people who work full-time, who understand that time can be limited. We only require at minimum one post a week. On average expect an average 2-hour session to take place over 1-2 weeks here.
This campaign primarily focuses on roleplay and combat, with very little (if any) puzzle opportunities.
Homebrew is permitted with DM approval.
Literate and semi-literate roleplay desired (e.g., Write full, proofread sentences, over shorter one-sentence replies).,

Hi, this sounds super interesting, and I'd love to be considered! My name is Robin, I'm 19, and my pronouns are he/they! I'm neurodivergent, and so I use tone tags pretty frequently, both for my own benefit and the benefit of others. I'd also like to clarify that I'm a trans guy, so a lot of my characters happen to be trans as well. I've only been playing DND for a little over a year, but I love to create a variety of different characters! My favorite kind to play are silly little guys, ones that tend to be mischievous, but ultimately have the best in mind for their friends/fellow party members. I'm writing my sample in third person, but I can change depending on if the preferred perspective is different. The character in the writing is my favorite character I've made, so the writing also doubles as a way to know the kind of characters I especially like to play! Anyway, here's the example of my writing:
"Come one, come all, to see the magic of Victor Morthos!" The tiefling cried into the street, his purple tail swishing in the air behind him as he made a show of shuffling cards in the air. Victor had recently discovered that a lot of people in his hometown had never seen any form of magic before, and he intended to change that. Magic was an incredible thing, even cheap parlor tricks like the ones he was subjected to performing here. Plus, the people surrounding him to watch were usually too focused on Victor's magic that they never noticed their wallets or coin purses being stolen right from under their noses. Victor had attracted a small crowd at this point, and began the show he put on every day at different streets in this town. He picked the most gullible-looking person--today's victim was an elf he'd never seen around town before--and lure them into trusting him with a few child's-level tricks, then steal whatever money they had from their pockets with his tail, or if he was feeling brave enough, a free hand. He managed to succeed in the first couple tricks, but his plan suddenly hit a roadblock when a passerby noticed his tail stealing the elf's wallet out of his pocket. They yelled out a warning, and in an instant, Victor had snatched the wallet and ran. He was not going to be caught.
If you're interested in what I have to offer, I'd prefer if you PM'd me on Discord, because I'm not on DNDBeyond super often. My discord user is ye.olde.jester, and I don't have any questions for the DM. Thank you for your consideration!
