Race/clan: Obviously you are all humans, however you can use whatever race you want and reflavor it to human
Class: everyone will be using the same hombrew class but the subclasses should make them very different playstyles
Homebrew: no, other than the one i am approving
Tone: Grim-Bright. the world is in danger and it could end horribly but there is hope you can fight for. this is hard to lock down, but there is darker stuff in naruto such as murder/depression/genocide/etc.
game itself: I believe i am best at rp and it will always be at a higher amount in my games, so 60% rp, 20% combat, 20% exploration
Stats: Standard array with a free +2 and another +2, these can be broken into +1's

Info on me: I've been a dm for over 5 years now and have also done multiple paid games. I am a anime fan and a lot of my games are connected to anime worlds, however i don't do retellings, i like to tell my own stories inside of the worlds. I also love tying character backstories into my worlds and making the pc's have a strong connection to the world and its people. I attempt to make every npc feel like a real person in the world(though sometimes there are joke characters). I also attempt to put as much basic info within my discord servers that even those who never read/watched the media i am using can still participate. If you love rp in dnd then i hope you will give one of my games a chance. as a note i am ok with romance in my games however sexual stuff other than perhaps a dirty joke here or there will never happen aka i don't do erp.
In world Set Up: The ninja world was just rocked by events that called forth memories of the great wars. A secret attack lead by the hidden sand village and the Hidden sound village left the Hidden Leaf village in shambles, even killing the 3rd Hokage a man believed to be the strongest kage alive. Though as this news rocked the major villages other events were happening, events that while small would lead to things far worse than just a death of a single kage. Of course none of this matters to the lives of the academy students of a small hidden village that was so small that it was not even on the map, and even though the world could be in dire straights the students would be abuzz with excitement as they would be graduating soon and being paired under a jonin. what will be their first mission? what will they accomplish? Will their actions change the fate of the ninja world, only time will tale.
Out of Game Set Up: You will be starting in a small hidden village that is not connected to any other village. Because of its formation ninja from many clans and other villages can come from here, so for example you can be from the Nara clan and use shadows like shikamaru. You will be academy students just becoming Genin and meeting your teacher when the game starts, there might be a bit of student stuff right at first though. Your first or second mission will lead to some very important stuff and make your team a unique case in the small village.
Important notes:
this is not a insert into the anime game. While i will be using certain characters and events from the anime/manga i will not be doing a direct retelling, which is why you are not starting in the leaf village, and will never really go into the leaf village either.
The village was created by ninja who left their homelands, and you are descendants of them or perhaps you yourself had to leave as a child, so your stories could use that as a base.
The important mission i stated will lead to you having to be ok with protecting something. so make sure you make characters that are ok with that. also remember loyalty to your homeland is a common thing for ninja
Your Teacher will be a Jonin which will mean they will be a higher level than you, that does not mean they are more important than you. aka they are not a "dreaded dm-npc" that the dm is just using to self insert.
For timeline. The Chunin Exams just occurred and thus the 3rd hokage has been murdered. The events of naruto getting Tsunade have also occurred. though as you are not in a major village that info while known is not very important. also in the discord server i have basically all the common knowledge stuff written out but feel free to ask questions.
