So i’ve never played D&D before, i learned about how it works a few months ago and wanted to try. My friends recommended i use D&D beyond to both make a character, and begin looking for people online to play with, however, i’ve run into a problem. I wanted my character to be a Goblin Paladin, only to learn that in order to use the Goblin race, i gotta cough up 30 bucks, so i instead chose Halfling, and was wondering if DMs online would be ok with my character classifying as a Goblin, despite having the Racial Traits of a Halfling. I dont want my fun ruined by a Dm saying i cant do that, but i also dont wanna Waste 30 bucks for digital race, anyone have a solution https://speedtest.vet/?
If your DM has the right subscription and someone in the group has the books required for that content they can share it with you for that campaign, so you would be able to use the Goblin race on D&D Beyond without needing to pay for the book yourself. (I think this is still how it works anyway)
or you could let your dm know that your character is a goblin but in order to put it on the character sheat you need to pay and if your dm is a good dm s/he will understand and cope to your goblin. and to get the stats like a goblin you could search other dnd game forms to find the goblin stats and find the [trate] override and place the stat in there. no payment required and you have correct stats. may need to dig but if you found this website you can find anything else.(for free) I recommend going to another website tho.
You should be able to buy just a race for $2 or so instead of the whole book but your DM will probably have the content and share it to your DNDB campaign.

Most DMs will have the content shared into a campaign that they invite you to. You shouldn't have to purchase anything if you land a good group.
