I've received enough applications and will start sending out invites.
Are you a beginner to D&D? I’d love for you to join our upcoming campaign.
To keep things low pressure and low stakes, I’ll kick things off with a one-shot adventure. This will use pre-generated characters, and will primarily be an opportunity to get familiar with the basics of the game and the tools we use.
After that one shot, we’ll start a new campaign with a custom character you make. Most likely this will be Dragons of Stormwreck Isle, which should take four to six sessions to complete.
Once we complete that, we’ll go to something bigger in scope. The last campaign I ran was an extended version of Rise of Tiamat, which saw the players go all the way from level 1 to 20.
Date & Time
Each game session will be 2.5 hours in length, and held on Monday from 8:00pm to 10:30pm EST (5:00pm to 7:30 PST).
The first session will be February 5th, and sessions will be held weekly.
Players need to be able to regularly attend the game sessions.
I have small children, and should they be sick, I may need to cancel the session.
Tools
Foundry VTT for character sheets, dice rolling, and maps. This is free for you. It does require a relatively modern computer (not a phone or tablet). Please confirm you meet the minimum specifications.
Discord for voice chat (we don’t use cameras), and also out of game text chat.
No experience with either tool is necessary.
Style
A typical game session might spend 50% of the time for combat, 35% on collaborative problem solving, and 15% on social encounters.
This can vary from session to session. I’ve had some with no combat, and others where a large battle takes the entire session.
Players collaborate with each other, and make important decisions via consensus.
I prefer smaller group sizes. Two players from my previous campaign will join this one. I’ll recruit three more. I suspect one or two of the new players will decide not to continue, and we’ll end up with three or four players.
When there isn’t any obvious answer to an in game question (e.g. does the alchemist’s lab contain the reagents to make a sleeping potion?), I’ll assign it a probability and randomly determine the answer based on that.
We generally stick to the core rules, allowing options from the Player’s Handbook, including feats but excluding multi classing.
Code of Conduct
No sexism, racism, harassment, or bigotry of any kind.
No sexual language or imagery.
Players violating this code of conduct may be expelled from the game.
Application process
Complete this application form.
If you're selected, I'll get in contact with you, and provide further instructions.
Once the new players are decided, I'll update this post to reflect that.
