I'm brand new to D&D with the exception of playing Baldurs Gate and I wanna figure out how to play and I'm looking for a group to teach me the basics and help with my first campaign. I'm free almost every evening and my timezone is EST. Thank you in advance.
Hey have you ever considered paid games? I'm in one on roll20 and when i first started the DM there made things real simple and gave me access to all the books here on dndbeyond. Was also really consistent, i know he's looking for a players for his monday campaign, it's only level 3 so far, I could ask to give you a trial session to see how it all goes or for his discord link
You may want to read the DNDB new player guide and watch some campaigns on youtube or twitch like Critical role or dimension 20. Here is a less well-known series. She does various games: (1) stellaluna - YouTube. You could also try some of the free one shots on startplayinggames. This way, you are familiar before you join a campaign. Also, The RPGbot of guides is good (even if I don't agree with all his opinions) -- he has class, spell, subclass, race, etc guides.
