Hello fellow adventurers! A good friend of mine is interested in getting into a D&D game, but is nervous due to her lack of experience (she played once in college and has been thoroughly entranced by BG3 lately). So we are looking to join a game together. I am an experienced player & DM of over a decade, so I will be helping her to learn rules and with explaining mechanics so that it doesn't need to fully fall on the DM, but someone who can be newbie-friendly would be preferred.
Game: D&D 5e Group Preferred: Online (Discord +/- VTTs; I have used most of them myself at least once) Experience: My friend is mostly new, I am a veteran (10+ years experience) Location/Timezone: EST Availability: We are looking for a 7pm-ish start time on a Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, weekly or bi-weekly preferred Preferred Role: Players (though I would also be open to co-DMing or rotational DMing, and have experience in this arena) Game Style: Casual, RP-leaning and story-driven much preferred (even split with combat is A-Okay, just not combat-focused), nothing too gritty, Homebrew is fine but definitely looking for that "classic" fantasy feel of a Forgotten Realms-type setting.
Additional Info: We are both adults in our 30's. LGBT+ friendly is a MUST. We are both avid writers, so a DM who likes to work player backstories into a campaign would be a great fit. My friend wants to play a Druid, and I will gladly flex (I usually play Cleric or Paladin, but I have played many classes and am happy to accommodate the group). A Session 0 is MANDATORY, though it does not need to be standalone; totally fine (even preferred) if it transitions into a 0.5 session/prologue with some gameplay.
If you are newer especially, I am happy to help with rules questions (only if you want), but my philosophy is that the DM makes the ultimate call & has the final word [Rule 0]
I have an Owlbear subscription (I find it the most newbie-friendly) so I can offer you a place to drop maps & tokens if needed (visual reference for combat is highly preferred)
The option for Romance would be nice, but it doesn't need to be the focus and we are not interested in anything ERP-centric
Not huge on a module unless it's only used as a starting-point; we'd love something long-term and fluid with room for players & the setting to grow together
We love collaborative storytelling, so if you enjoy having invested players then we might just be the pair for you~
I might seem meticulous from this post, but I promise I'm actually very laid-back ^^' I just don't want to waste anyone's time!
If you think you have a place for us, feel free to post a blurb of your campaign premise & timeslot here with your Discord handle and I will reach out there if it sounds like a good fit :) If you aren't comfortable posting your Discord publicly, just say so and I will PM you here through DNDB instead.
Same here! We have a discord group that runs games almost every weekday around those timeframes. Hit me up if you'd like to join the discord and check things out! #Floppynacho
I dunno if you're interested but we have a discord server that focuses on 2-4 hour one shots. Great way to scratch the itch until u find a permanent campaign. Over 1000 players and more than 40 DMs. Also 18+ and LBGQ+
