INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND Heyo I've been running a "tutorial" modified phandelver campaign for a bunch of new players since the start of the year, but recently, after we just finished it and started the CoS campaign as a sequel for a couple sessions, the game unfortunately fell apart when a few players had to leave. So I'm looking to reboot it from the start of the CoS campaign with 2-3 of the original party members in the same-ish story timeline, and I'd like 3-4 new players for this.
TIME SLOT Ideally we can keep the same timeslot we had, which is 8PM-MIdnight CST (that's 9pm-1am EST; 6pm-10pm PST), but I'm free every evening around the same time, except Mondays, and my 2-3 players might be flexible too.
MEDIUM Online over a Discord voice call, using Roll20 for maps, and D&DB and the Beyond20 browser extension for character sheets.
CONTACT My discord ID is zionswasd feel free to add me and just tell me you're from D&DB.
ABOUT ME I've got almost a decade of on-off experience DMing, I LOVE crafting characters/stories/worlds, I'm very passionate about writing, and as a DM I try to put in the prep-work moreso than most DMs I've played under so as to make it a neat experience (although sometimes I get lazy but I'm good enough at improv to make up for it usually lol).
I get a lot of joy out of teaching new players about D&D/TTRPG's, and I usually dislike dealing with routine-metagamers, extreme minmaxxers/powergamers, and rules-lawyers.
I'm usually character-homebrew friendly, and use a few homebrew rules of my own, and I try to generally keep it rules-lite for the most part, I know all the rules but I follow the rule of cool to maximize the story themes/characterization over all else, and will make rulings on the fly as it suits that purpose, bc I prefer not to spend the valuable game time arguing over/looking up rules.
And I generally prefer to keep it lighthearted overall personally, I don't get along with people who take themselves or the world so deadly-seriously.
THE CAMPAIGN The campaign is a survival-horror/action-horror/gothic-horror/cosmic-horror/dark fantasy with an evil vampire lord as the main villain —think Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Berserk, Darkest Dungeon, Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry, or Castlevania— it can get a bit dark (but nothing too extreme), and in shooting for a medium-fantasy "Nobledark" setting, while I prioritize highlighting the party characters' stories and their heroism; it can get pretty brutal and down to the wire in a souls-like fashion, especially in boss fights, so make sure you can take a punch in stride, and know that while I can be brutal (possibly a little sadistic) as a DM, I am still on your side in telling a cool/fun story together lol.
