Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: New to 5E but have exp in 2E Location/Timezone: EST(USA) Availability:Monday-Thursday=Not available , Friday 4pm-3am , Saturday 8am-3pm , Sunday 1pm-7pm Preferred role:Player Game style:Looking for a casual free or low cost game.
If i do not recive a invite by Friday of this week i will go ahead and cancel my Beyond account because it is apparent that no one wants me for a campaign. And i got refered here by my tabletop DM for when i have extra time to get some 5E exp in. He said that i would find a game and be learning in no time and yet here i am.
Have you been applying for posts and using multiple sites? IK the official D&D server gets a lot of campaign postings for EST, and roll20 has an option to see people doing campaigns that are open to newcomers
Not to be "that guy" or anything but I see 4 posts from you total. I literally had a campaign I kept at the top of the page and advertised for, for 2 weeks that fit into your Friday 4pm to 3am schedule and you didn't show interest in it.
I've never had issues finding games on here. There are dozens of posts right now with DMs looking for players, I don't see your name in any of them.
In addition to the D&D Discord, there's a whole bunch of other Discord servers - search Discord, you might find some "local"/in your timezone. There's Reddit and a whole bunch of other sites etc etc. google is your friend*
Install Discord. Explore Discoverable Servers. Type "D&D" Browse the available servers - maybe choose on that might be either at the top (popularity) or states it's in your Timezone - maybe something like D&D North America/Europe/etc. Join that Server Read the RULES + Terms and Conditions and agree to them if that's what you need to do to proceed. On the Right Hand Side there's a list of channels - one of them might well say LFP (looking for players) or maybe LFG (looking for game). Read the posts. If there's one you like - reply to it.
Other problems or issues can be answered (more quickly) by using an internet search engine of your choice. Example- "Dear Google, how do I use a dice bot" might be something + it's almost instant that it will give you that information. Some things might be more opinion based such as "what is a good character for Dragonlance at 3rd level" and that's what this place is for - although, the Looking for Players/DM's is'nt the place for those kinds of questions. It IS a place to look for games - but you need to interact and respond to posts and message people - 4 posts (at the time of you starting this thread) isn't a lot of interaction at all, so you might want to be more active/PROactive in actually looking for games. Also, your post history is easily available/readable by anyone and "rage quitting" type/style posts might not be a "good look" to someone running a game that wants players.
Sure, it's frustrating - applying to games that don't work out or that just come to nothing - but that's the problem with team-games in a busy world with life going on in it. Not only that, but hey "there's 3-5 new strangers that I'm trying to spend my personal time with for fun" and everyone's fun is interlinked - that's how D&D works, you need to make room for other people and if you're not getting the interaction you want or they want, people are free to leave.
As a DM - I've learned the hard way, it IS definitely a good use of my time to check the Posting History of a "new" player - even something like, they only focus on/talk about Anime style D&D stuff at least gives me a warning they're probably not the right fit for my campaign + the other players. That doesn't mean they're a "bad person" or anything like that, but D&D's a social game and it's awesome fun with a party that gels well together. Worst case scenario - D&D might not be for you - and that's ok too.

Welcome aboard! We look forward to you joining our group this weekend.
Your initial post seems a little strong. I get the frustration, but it came across as immature.
How do I close this thread
You need to EDIT the thread and add the CLOSED tag. It will appear next to the green LFG tag.
