Welcome to Baldur's Gate, a city of ambition and corruption. You’ve just started your adventuring career, but already find yourself embroiled in a plot that sprawls from the shadows of Baldur's Gate to the front lines of the planes-spanning Blood War! Do you have what it takes to turn infernal war machines and nefarious contracts against the archdevil Zariel and her diabolical hordes? And can you ever hope to find your way home safely when pitted against the infinite evils of the Nine Hells?
Greetings! My name is Memory (they/them), and I'm looking for about 4 players to play Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus. I'm a DM of 4 years, but this is going to be my first time running a module so beginners are encouraged to apply!
Descent into Avernus is a lengthy module that takes players from level 1 to 13. Sessions will be ran bi-weekly on Saturdays at 2pm CST for about 4 hours, so please be sure that you're able to commit to a long-term campaign.
We're going to be using Discord for voice and Roll20 for character sheet access, and battlemaps when I have time to set them up, but otherwise everything is going to be Theater of Mind. All published source material is welcome. This module starts at Level 1 and takes place in Faerûn. Prior knowledge of The Forgotten Realms is not needed, but is a huge plus. Once I get enough players, there will be a Session 0 where we discuss house rules, personal boundaries and so on.
For a bit about me and my own style of play, I am an aspiring novelist and a hobbyist DM. I love creating interesting stories and working together with the party to tell them. I'm a bit out of my comfort zone when it comes to modules, but I'm eager to learn, and I'm hoping this serves as an opportunity to improve my DMing. I try to incorporate character backstories and hooks so that my players feel included, and I tend to use RAW as a loose guide with a strong preference towards rule of cool.
I'm seeking players who love to roleplay, and enjoy embodying their characters. If you only care about numbers and doing as much damage as possible, this isn't the campaign for you. As this is a module, it is worth noting that there is story and I would prefer you not to derail too much, though I do encourage to act as your characters would.
Alongside this, I'm hoping to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for those who might not feel welcome at traditional tables. The goal here isn't to leave people out, but to create a comfortable environment where people can be themselves without having to worry. I don't require you to be under a certain label, but I do ask that you have some compassion for your fellow players.
If this sounds like something you're interested in, here's a form you can fill out! If chosen, I'll add you on Discord where we can discuss. I'll probably leave this up for a few days before choosing, but that depends on the amount of players who apply!
Thank you so much for reading!
