Hello, I have been playing D&D 5e since about June 2020 in campaigns of various lengths but really only Three long(ish) term campaigns. I am unsure how to go about advertising myself to GMs and such so I am just going to list off what comes to mind below:
Game: D&D 5e
Preferred Method of play: VTT with communication over Discord, I prefer FoundryVTT but I am willing to work with whatever the group uses as long as using it is free.
Experience: As listed above though I have a pretty clear understanding of how 5E works and should be able to handle character creation without a guide and can actually help other players if need be.
Timezone: EDT (Eastern Daylight Time)
Availability: Saturdays at any time after about 2pm
Role: I would like to be a player, still working up to becoming a DM
Age: Mid 20s
Pronouns: He/Him
Preferred Session Length: 3-5 hours, I can go longer than 5 Hours but if that is the case it would have to be earlier.
Preferred Character Type: In the 3 Campaigns I have played I have been a Heal focused cleric, a Gun toting Fighter, and a Pugilist. I like to try and cover a weak point in a party if there is one but overall, my comfort zone is a resilient frontline martial. The dream for me is going toe to toe with a big monster while my fellow party members cut it down to size.
Preferred Game type: A campaign where we are incentivized to use words over brawn in certain circumstances, but we can utilize our skills in combat as well.
Character Backstories: I did not know what to call this one, so I just went with Character Backstories. In most of my games my PC's background mattered very little, honestly it served more as a "Hey my PC did this thing." than anything else. This has led to me over the years tending to swap PCs, I only realized this because of two games I was in where the DMs took little things in my backgrounds and had them appear in the world. I don't want to be the main character or anything like that. I just want to know that as I explore the world the Backstory of my character isn't just for mental flavor on my end.
What I am Comfortable with Happening: I feel it is important to declare thins you are not ok with happening as to avoid troubles in the future.
Sexual Acts: Fade to black if PCs are getting it on with other PCs or NPCs. R**e/Torture scenes are a Solid no for me, What I mean is a PC/NPC forcing themselves on a PC/NPC will not be tolerated by me. And I do not wish to sit through a vivid description of Torture methods being used and so on. I do not mind these things happening off screen if EXPLICITLY discussed between the DM and the affected Player and this is only if the PC is not the perpetrator of it. I could see it being used as a motivator for revenge or justice and thus would not deny that Character development. That being said I reiterate a PC attempting to R**e a NPC/PC is grounds for severe discipline or removal otherwise I'm out.
PvP: I do not the Party to fight each other unless it is a Friendly non-lethal rivalry, or there is a justifiable reason. Even then the end goal should never be to kill the PC it should be to subdue and solve what caused the conflict. If the Player and DM agree that the PC is evil, and the player is ok with the PC dying, then its ok.
Power gaming: I believe that a Min-Maxed PC can still be a great roleplay experience, but I do not like Main character levels of power. As a Coopertive experience there should not be a Player who totes 50%+ of the party's power. I have had a game where me and one other player were so much stronger than the others that in order to provide a challenge to the strong PC the enemies could one shot anyone else. This was not a fun experience, especially when I worked to lower my PC's power and the other Player did not. We should all be roughly the same in strength and if that requires others to get more magic items, I am fine with it.
Magic Items: I have played a few campaigns where the Magic Items are ONLY homebrew and they had little to no synergy with the player and it has made me look at Homebrew magic items in a dull light. It is the DM's decision on what magic Items and when/how to give them, but I ask to just not give a Wizard a Glaive that summons a creature.
Shopping: I would love to shop for supplies/items, but I would hope that the time of other Players is respected.
MISC: Anything else is probably only going to come up as it happens because I cannot think of anything off the top of my head atm
Why Free: I am currently saving as much as I can for a future financial purchase and thus cannot spare the money to pay a weekly/biweekly fee.
How to contact me: I will try to keep an eye out on here but overall, it is best to contact me on discord by dming me
Well, that is my advertisement I guess, bit lengthy overall but I feel like I have covered most everything.
