Hi. I just created my first character and I'm excited to start playing DnD.
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online / Face to face / either Experience: New Location/Time zone: Vancouver / Pacific Daylight Saving Time (PDT) Availability: 3 pm until 3 am Preferred role: Player Game style: It's my first character so no game style yet
Yes, there's no shortage of GM's that run paid games, given the work they put into running and preparing games (as well as to cover the cost of buying supplements and books). This also helps party retention, as paid games have far fewer 'partly committed' players (i.e players who maybe don't show every week, show up late, don't focus, etc), as they're much more likely to do so if they're leaving money on the table. Generally seats at these tables cost roughly 10$ a person, but some GM's just charge the party by the session and have them split the costs however they see fit, but I've seen some charge up to 25$ per seat. Generally there's a higher expectation of paid GM's compared to free, but generally free GM's have the freedom to run stories they're more interested in running (since it's their time and nothing else), while Paid tend to run pre-built adventures (i.e Curse of Strahd, Venca, etc), though you'll find plenty of both.
