Within a swirling vortex of ice and snow, one can see a tower standing atop the peak of Mount Grascht. It’s brilliance a beacon of celestial energy as it draws in the radiant energies of the stars and moon. It exists beyond our very own sense of time and space. A relic of the Age of the Divine that was coveted by the Arcane Scholars of Imperial Regnum. Only gracing this plane when the light of the moon falls upon the world. It is where all adventures go to seek the Mantle of a God that once walked this Earth. Even those Arcane Magisters that had all their wisdom could not ascend the tower to its apex, the upper floors being far too difficult to conquer. In the 20 floors that stretch into the night sky, only 15 have been climbed. They feared what lies beyond and in their inability to destroy its very form, they sought to find one worthy enough to reach the apex, promising untold fortunes to the one that discovered the mysteries of the floors above.
Many adventures have spent their lives training and tackling this tower with their band of heroes, each of them failing in the attempt, some even succumbing to their injuries. It has become now a right of passage of those that wish to show their strength to reach the 15th floor of this tower and take onto themselves the weight of reaching the best that any mere mortal has achieved. However, there is always the allure to go further beyond into the unknown.
This has been the case for centuries but something has now changed. Among the people that live at the very base of the Mountain, children were born under a blue full moon. Each bathed in its glow and baptized in the essence of something otherworldly. Each of them, being born with a birthmark that resembles a Crescent Moon. The mark a splotch of white upon the newborn skin. Little did any know that this was a brand meant to shake the very foundation of this world. A fate that would one day be written in song about the moon and the stars that surround it.
Brief Overview
Humble Beginnings is an adventure focused around introducing players to a homebrew world and its many mysteries in a coming of age story of adventures coming up in a world devoid of any major divine presence. While Gods are still around, there is not as strong a presence of them in everyday life as some may think. They do not walk amongst mortals as they did the days of old. Arcane and Eldritch Magic blossomed in the wake of a decline in Holy magic. The church’s corruption and the God’s blind eye to their sureness of station resulted in the Age of Revelations, where all opened their eyes to the truth. The orders that ruled and held such prestige fell and caused a power vacuum.
However, that is a tale for another day. Now, the Churches have reformed and the connection to their divine patrons keep the Arcane Seal from fully locking off the connection to the Gods that were outcasted. Those that heal and act as holy practitioners of divine magic are rarer. Finding one offers a second glance for both good and bad reasons. Your actions and hubris determine how you shall be treated.
However, that is a story for another day. This game will be starting at level 3. Players are encouraged to ask for details if they wish to understand anything.
